My brother is wanted to get a can soon and requested a new charging handle for Christmas. Between the PRI gas buster and the Griffin Snatch, which does a better job keeping the gas out of your face when running a suppressor? Thanks

Most 5.56 suppressed ARs that I have used with MilSpec handles had a lot of gas blowback.

You could buy him a tube of RTV and a small drill bit...and then spend the rest on something else. That's what I've done on all mine, along with AGBs.

That being said, I think most of the commercial ones work fairly well.

Any pics of this fix?

I've done something similar on mine with good success. RTV and grind a little channel around to the side to direct the gas...

I don't have pics, but here are the two write-ups I have saved:

hole in CH
RTV CH

I can take pics of mine if needed, but the two write-ups I linked to should handle it. I've also seen a guy cut a piece of O-ring and glue it instead of using RTV.

I have done RTV in a factory CH and I also have a SNACH. While the RTV fix works well enough, there is something to be said for having a quality charging handle; the gas bleed off IMO is a secondary benefit. It makes the rifle feel a lot more solid and makes one handed charging a snap. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another due to the quality, fit, and feel

And to be clear...they're all band aids addressing the symptoms and not the cause.

Adjustable gas block, or some other method of controlling the gas, is really the key. And a good AGB isn't a whole lot more expensive than a good "gas busting" CH.

I agree, good charging handle makes the rifle feel so much better. I have a AXTX Raptor on mine and it is huge improvement over the MilSpec one. Well worth the 80 bucks.

I agree that having some sort of adjustable gas system on any suppressed rifle is the best investment. I will add that combining a quality charging handle with the set up is also money well spent, and if it happens to be a secondary source of gas dispersal, that's all the better

BCM charging handles have worked well for me. They have a ledge that comes down in the back and seems to block some gas. I also echo the ADJ gas block statements if anyone that is looking to switch that piece. He may also want to look at the forward assist vent product if he doesn't mind getting rid of functionality of the forward assist.

I run then snach on all my ar rifles as it doesn't matter what is going on with the gas system for it to work. Also it's a bad ass handle that works.

I use the RTV trick, but it's on a BCM/VLTOR Gunfighter handle, not a basic milspec CH...
