Since 9mm ARs are blowback operated, would a suppressed AR pistol be significantly quieter in 300blk (both shooting subs) since it is gas operated? Anyone have both and can comment?

Assuming both are at exactly 1050fps, using the same suppressor, at the same temperature, with the oxygen pre-purged from the can....blind taste test....I don't think you could tell the difference except from a possible small difference in tone.

You can definitely tell the difference when the bullet hits either steel, berm etc.
The heavier 30 cal hits with authority.

My short 9MM SBR is 4" barrel and has a lot of port noise that my 10.5" 300 BLKout does not have. 9MM is cheaper to shoot and lighter overall with a lighter can. Both are fine without ears but I'd hunt with the 300 and shoot steel with the 9MM.

Yeah I was thinking I was getting some ejection port noise from my 9mm and wondered if the gas system would be quieter, but the guy with both says no. I'm running the Slash 9Q heavy buffer so I don't think I could delay the blowback any more.

There's a 300blk pistol for sale in BST and it got me to thinking. Never a good thing. ;)

BLKout is a blast and I recommend it highly. Paired with a good can and you have a winner. To be fair you can use a pistol can on sub blkout so the weight in the cans could change if you wanted them too. I run mine with an alpha/paladin and an optimus with 3 lug from time to time. If I was going to hike with it I'd run my Rev 45 in short configuration to save even more weight but that can is on my CZ Evo currently.

You ought to be able to find somebody with a 300BLK that will meet you somewhere compare. Sounds like you have a 9mm AR, right?

I have both. The loudest noise on both of them, at least to me as the shooter, is the buffer spring. I always shoot with plugs, even when suppressed, so I'm not sure about port noise. I'm not sure I've ever shot my 7" 9mm and 10" 300BLK back-to-back to even think about a comparison.
