Just got my whites boots order, a pair of insulated outdoorsman, and wow! Feel great already, cant wait till they're broke in. Remind me of the redwings i had 20+ years ago.

I bought a set because I was told they were the best. they were uncomfortable from the start and never got better. Hope you end up with better results. zero cushion and that goofy logger style high heel made for many miserable days on the job site for me... I tried them for a very long time just because I paid so much.

This style doesn't have the logger heel and is built on a different last. I read their smokejumper last can take quite some time to break in, and many actually recommend the old timer method of soaking the boots and wearing till dry to break them in.

Yup.
The low heel style is definitely preferred.
The high heel style is great for working on steep slopes but otherwise sucks.
Whites is a boot that really needs to be fitted in person. Mail order is a risky endeavor.

I hate boots in general. I like the freedom of flexibility in my ankles and the ability to get shoes off fast. Not sure why getting them off is a thing with me I just don't like the feel.

My pair of those no longer look that good.

Like me though, they have gotten better with age, that broken down in stylishly shambolic look.

I have a pair of un-insulated hunters as well. Both pairs did take a while to 'break in'. I wouldn't just slap them on and head out for a full day when you get them. I wore them around the house a few hours at a time and only on weekends for a couple of months so I could always swap them out for the old boots just in case.

I was fortunate to pick up both pairs (at different times) in person. Helps a lot.

They are babe magnets if you keep them polished up.

Quality aint cheap, guess that's why all the others are made in china now
That’s right! I buy nothing but made in USA boots as my primary footwear. I have a couple of pair of Solomon and other hiking type boots that while decent boots, they still aren’t the quality of American made boots. US made shoes and boots are 3x the price but they normally get 3-4x the fit and wear out of them. I’ve got a pair of US made Danners 5hat I bought before I was married. That was 32 years ago and I’ve worn the crap out of them and still do!
It only cost a little more to go 1st class!

Not all of 'em... I just bought a pair of unlined, breathable, pull-on Red Wing work boots, with a Made in USA tag right on 'em. They weren't cheap, either!

I know their heritage line is still made in the states, pretty much everything else was either offshored or now uses imported components.

I was nervous about ordering, but after chatting with them (and reading up about the fit of their lasts), i became comfortable enough to order.

Glad i did, really liking these.

I've heard a lot of great things about Whites Smoke Jumper boots.

Still I really like my Keens. I have the US mfg ones with safety to. Most days I'm in them for 14 hours at a time. I have two pair and alternate them daily, putting one pair on a Peet boot dryer while I'm wearing g the other pair.

I was in my 50's before I discovered that there was a lot of difference between foot shapes and that it was worthwhile to really find a style that fits your foot (and not just length or width).

Trying to talk the wife into something with good arch support to help with planar fasciitis, cheap junk isn't cutting it
