Same here! Why is this so common?

At least part of it in my household is that so many women’s clothes don’t have pockets. Whereas I always have my phone in my pocket if I am up and moving around, my wife most of the time doesn’t have a pocket to carry it in.

We got my wife an Apple Watch about two years ago specifically so she could use it to find her phone. And also so that it will set off an alarm if she is leaving a location without her phone. And also so that she can use the watch for communication when she still ends up leaving the house without the phone.
