I was leaving downtown Wake Forest Saturday and ran into a commotion on highway 98. What appeared to be a feral hog was running across. At first it looked like a domestic pig but as I got closer, pretty sure it was not. Short, front heavy, hairy.

Are they roaming around here? Hunting opportunities?

They are almost everywhere now. My land where I hunt between Pittsboro and Sanford has neither hogs nor bears, but I've seen pics of bears ten miles away. On a hunting forum, another member posted that he had hogs near Pittsboro.

I saw some pictures of bears in Goldston last year, don’t think I’m going to buy a bear tag yet but hopefully in the near future. I live and hunt in the snow camp crutchfield cross roads area.

Was it a Sunday afternoon? Sometimes they can travel as much as 50 miles! Usually in a pack and they like to stop at bars.

I've seen what looked like a family of wild hogs on the way to work in Youngsville. Since I was 5 mins from home in Wake Forest I'd assume they ranged all over.
