Will an m16 BCG work in an AR-15?

They’ll work fine. Nothing illegal about it unless installing it happens to make yours fire more than one shot with a single trigger pull. Most the of the BCGs I have are full auto versions from PSA.

“Full profile” or M16 carriers are pretty much the norm. Using an M16 Carrier vs an AR15 carrier makes zero difference regarding the semi-auto functioning of your gun.

Some argue that the slight increase in mass increases reliability of chambering rounds.

Really nothing available that you can stick on an AR that you have to worry about other than short barrels. And apparently bump stocks now.
Auto sear maybe, but they are thousands of dollars, take some knowledge to use/install, and isn’t something anybody is gonna get on accident.

Not entirely true. I've seen a source for everything to convert an AR15 to FA. Albeit the seller can only sell to class 2/3 SOT dealers or as replacements for registered receivers. About $200 worth of parts.

JEOPARDY: I'll take Bolt Carrier Groups for $1,000 Alex

Sootch00 shows the difference in AR bolt carrier groups.

It's not very well-known to the public. I will add that most commercial AR-15 lowers won't accomodate the additional parts without additional machining in the trigger pocket.
The husband and wife terrorists in San Bernardino used rifles modified for full auto but only worked semi auto.

I think my point still stands. These are not "drop in" parts by any means and require a lot of money/stamps/legal stuff to own as well as gunsmithing to install.
Unlike a simple BCG that drops in. In other words, there is no way to purchase it, and install it without knowing precisely what you are doing.
