Will this vice be enough for AR assembly?

Yes, a 4 1/2" jaw is plenty. Maybe better choices but that one is just fine.

Mount it properly to a solid bench and you"ll be a happy camper.

Awesome. I have a very sturdy bench in my garage. Got a vice block set for $22 on eBay. This will be better for me than driving an hour one way to my gunsmith who currently does the stuff for me.

Just don't try pressing U-joints into a driveshaft with it and you'll be fine. :D

Should be fine, I have an old one about that size in the garage I use for all kinds of jobs. Have a slightly bigger one from HF that I would use for more but it's in the gunroom.

Bigger is better, I’d watch Craig’s list in your area and spend a few dollars more. Torquing a barrel nut in a lightweight vise kinda sucks.

I use a 4" and works just fine. I would suggest a "No'mar" block. Can get on ebay. I think works better as my upper never fits in the 2 piece sandwich kind. Just one dummies opinion.

I use a cheap 4" craftsman that I snagged for $30, along with a wheeler block and it works very well. I'd rather have a great block and OK vice than nice versa.

Any idea y my bolt won't unlock from barrel for extraction? I have 3 bolt, 1 is Anderson and all get locked up in barrel
Slow down and describe the problem, post pics if you can.

Is this a standard direct impingement AR?
If you can’t get the bolt group out of the receiver, how do you know that it’s a problem with the others?

That looks exactly like the vise I have. It works just fine for AR assembly/breakdown.

I’m in the process of talking myself out of a new medium vise, it weighs just about 109lbs. If you haven’t worked with a good old vise before you don’t know what you’re missing!
