Trying to decipher the bad Chinese instructions for both the light and sensor.
I put one of these lights on our side porch the other month, I have another for our front porch light, which is about 16' high.
I would like to add a motion sensor to both of them. From everything I have read, the sensor is compatible and people have made them work. I'm just trying to make sure I wire it right before I climb up 16' to install it.

Sensor has standard Red, White, Black leads.20180525_132223.jpg
The light has spaces at the junction of the White and Black wires inside to add an additional White and Black.

I think I should be able to put the Black and White wires into the open positions in the box and then tie red to the black running to the junction box...which seems right.

The light in question.

My take is that your supply hot (black) and neutral (white) go into the motion sensor and the red is the switched hot that activates the light. In other words, the red goes to the black of the light fixture and neutral (white) and ground tie to the line connections respectively. Note that the chassis of the motion sensor needs to be grounded.

I think after looking at it some more that's right.
That little white terminal block allows for either additional lights to be run or the wiring brought from the side rather than the top of the light. Should be able to take the hot wire from there, remove it, go to the red wire of switch, and then bring the black and white back to that block from the sensor.

The sensor is plastic, so nothing to ground to.... I'm skeptical about the weather tightness of the sensor so I may scrap them.
