just wondering if anyone has used it or took measurements on its consistency?

Wanting to get some brass for precision loads, was going to get statline but found some once fired wolf gold brass

My impression of Wolf ammo is not very good, but I have no idea about their brass. I've used it for plinking loads but have only played with Starline, LC, or PMC brass for precision loads.

Wolf Gold is good stuff. Decent brass but not LC quality. Akin to PMC, and in fact maybe made by PMC IIRC.

Besides the work you're gonna do to it determines precision usually.

I can get 500 pieces of cleaned once fired LC brass with 2016 headstamps for similar price without shipping. Any particular reason you want anything but that?

Care to link me? I’m just looking for good brass, that isn’t 50 cent a piece lol. Didn’t know of many cheap options. 223 for precision is new to me. Used to loading for 308, 6mm and 6.5

If you're a member of castboolits, go in the swap meet section and look for a vendor called Orisolo. He sells LC 5.56 brass for a nickle or so a piece plus $7 or 14 for a flat rate USPS box. I've bought quite a bit of brass from him but I usually get 5.56 brass by the flat rate box load so 2600 or so fits in a medium flat rate box IIRC

EDIT: it's $6 per 100, then 3% for paypal, then the shipping so yeah around $40 shipped for 500

If you still work in Concord I may be able to hook you up with 250 for a little less than that ;)

I offered $100 for a LFRB of once fired LC 556 uncleaned over on castbullets, got 3 responses. Two delivered, one sent 2/3rds of a box and got banned over it. Maybe time to do that again.

I’m working in Winston now. I’ll give that a look when I get home.

So is LC pretty consistent?

Well, it's military brass. Primer pockets are crimped, and I can't really tell a difference in weight between a 25-year period of headstamps starting in 2004 so yeah it's consistant.

I mean if you want to spend Lapua money go ahead but it's not gonna buy you anything but an uncrimped primer pocket after you've done brass prep.

Yea, I just know some brass isn’t consistent with wall thickness, therefor you’re getting different pressures and velocity with each case at the same charge. I’m super picky with my bolt gun stuff, not as concerned with the AR. Expecting to hold half moa and I’ll be good with that .

I’ve got a bunch of lake city brass, all different years though, wasn’t sure how much it varied by year. Thanks for the info
