She buys the firearms knowing full well he can't buy them himself and gets caught.
One of the handguns was used in a murder by the boyfriend, he tossed it away,
she wanted it back so she could resell it, police found it before she could.
Another news story reported that she faces five years in prison for the purchases.
Only five years? That is just nuts, should be five years per gun. Consecutive not concurrent.

Uribe told investigators she accompanied Smith in June when the couple went shopping for Glock .22-caliber and Keltec .22-caliber handguns. Smith provided the money and pointed out the guns he wanted Uribe to buy, the report said.

I don't know why she wouldn't be charge as an accessory to the murder, seeing as how she provided the weapon that was used in the murder.

What did she think he was going to do with them? Maybe take up target shooting? Yeah, a guy with tears tattooed on his face, right.

Maybe he just murdered another gangbanger? If so, give him another gun.

But the gun store sales clerk didn't think anything was suspicious?
I bought a gun for my wife while she was with me at the gun store. I filled out all of the paperwork. But that is immaterial in this case because my wife also has a CCH. For my son or daughter I'd just give them the cash so they could buy what this want. My son has his CCH. My daughter will get hers in the Spring.

Ah the ever elusive and rare .22 caliber Glock Model 4. Banned in seven countries due to its lethality and super high capacity 58rd mag clip which can be fired in under 3 seconds. I see that one going on GunBroker soon.

Straw purchasers get a slap on the wrist. Man in upstate NY used rifle his gf purchased for him as he was felon, man killed two firemen who arrived to put his house fire that he deliblertly set. She got two years.

Dad and I watched a straw purchases happen right in front of us at the LGS. Guy picks out an AK, 'girlfriend' (who clearly knows nothing and doesn't care) buys it. We end up leaving at the same time and I see them get in a car with NY license plates and drive off. Am I making assumptions based on the appearance/actions/demeanor of the parties involved? yes. I can do that because I'm not PC. Can a store clerk do that? Doubtful because there would be consequences for acting on a hunch... and all laws were followed.

Nice looking couple. I love the tear drops.

When I worked the "Lodge" at Dick's years ago, I would refuse sales for that kinda crap all the time. Dude fondles the gun, oohs & ahhs, then she tries to buy it. Nope. Buh-bye, now.

Once had a guy come in and demand a box of .357. He was agitated and had been drinking. I told him no. He hit the roof and asked for the store manager. The store manager backed me up after I explain to him I had the right to refuse, like a dram shop law. The guy stormed out. I knew in my heart, if I had sold those bullets, someone was going to die that night.
By the way, this was up in Raleigh and yes, I watched the news for a couple of days.
