I know this is kind of old school but it's where my technology learning curve stopped.

My PC in my home shop died.

We don't get cell signal here at our house, or digital tv signal. So my pc is how I post on here, get the news, watch Netflix, etc.

So I need a pretty good one. All I need is the PC itself. Already have a monitor and everything else.

My old one was a Alien Ware that was probably 12 years old. I don't need cutting edge. But I do need to be able to stream videos, play a few flash games, etc.

    Trade Goodies:

    Benchmade
    ZT
    Bark River
    ESEE
    Streamlight products
    Maybe bulk ammo
I know I have one 870 Express I could trade off. Maybe other guns depending on what PC is offered.
    Survival freeze dried food buckets

I have all kinds of cool stuff to trade. If you have one you want to let go I'm sure we can work something out.

    Not really interested in lap-tops.

    Thanks
    Bill

To be honest, if you're just going to stream video's and play flash games, you don't need a great computer. Or even a desktop. A laptop today is plenty powerful, and can plug into the monitors and keyboards.

One thing you need to verify are the connections of your keyboard, mouse, and monitor first.

Does your monitor take VGA, DVI, Display Port, or HDMI?
Is your keyboard and mouse PS/2 or USB?

Unless you want to change those things, you need to tailor your things to that.

    Sample desktop: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-Thi...SGround!28211!US!-1&var=532418646390&LH_BIN=1

That has a SSD and 8gb of ram and a good CPU, meaning it will be fast and responsive. It has VGA and HDMI, and plenty of USB(use the blue ones for connecting hard drives and phones, newer usb's that are faster and push more power, use the uncolored ones for keyboard/mouse).

    Sample Laptop:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-Thi...sh=item3b16442146:g:UIMAAOSwEfBbWN4L&LH_BIN=1

    VGA and Mini Displayport

I've got an older 15" Dell laptop you can have if it'll help.
    It worked fine for me.

Alright. I dug out my old pc from 2002. It keeps giving me crap about windows xp. I'll use this as a stop-gap until I can get something better.

    My monitor takes DVI.
    Keyboard and mouse is usb
the little antenna that picks up the wireless from my house is USB
Has to take speakers that plug in with old jack/post style. Not sure what you call that. But we got it down to wher it is only the one post like they all used to have. My pc was attached to a 30 year old RCA deck that was attached to 35 year old big Pioneer speakers. I know that is old fashioned and maybe weird but that is how we listen to music out in the shop. And it's important. LOL

I am gonna hold out and see if I can trade for a "more modern" tower first. I just don't know anything about laptops. If I have to learn something new it will be painful but hopefully not impossible.

    Thanks
    Bill

I got you. What if the laptop could be used like a desktop? I have a nice laptop with docking station. You really couldn't tell a difference. If you're dead set in a desktop I got you there as well.

I have an older dell PowerEdge SC440 that I no longer use. It was originally a server but has been upgraded with a sound card and functions as a pc now. Has 5 usb ports in back and two in front. Monitor connections are SVGA, DVI and hdmi. I can send pics and more info if interested. I live in Raleigh but my daughter commutes to Chapel Hill daily so I could get it that far with no real effort. Last use was for my grandkid playing minecraft and coolmath games on it. I don't want anything for it so price is hard to beat. PM me if interested.

Doesn't @Brian K end up with surplus towers occasionally?

@thrillhill wanna send me your old one and see if I can bring it back to life?

Won’t charge you anything if you want someone to dig in to it.

Just short of a hardware failure I should be able to get it fixed. I have everything to troubleshoot it and figure it out

I'll have something decent Oct 1. Dell something 790 3050 or similar, i3, probably 4gigs, I can probably upgrade that to 8. It'll do what you need. The price is fair too.

    You can just have it.
