Young WV Woman Kills Huge Black Bear

22 year old chic experienced bear hunter.

Guaranteed she was not by herself, someone scouted the bear and guided her too it.
Now she may have pulled the trigger but that’s it.

Stories like this crack me up but she’ll get endorsements and will be the next wondergirl.

I may otherwise agree with you except for one little fact: This was in WV. Clay County WV to be exact. Things and the people are different there, trust me.

There was a link. And a story. Maybe you forgot to read it.

Negative clay county is about as backwoods as it gets. I would bet that her family hunts more than you could even dream of. Clay County is back in the mountains about an hour north of Charleston. Wildlife is plentiful and hunting is more than just for fun but a way of life. I've got a female friend that at 40 I would bet she has killed more than you could dream of killing in your lifetime.

My wife's parents were born and raised in Clay County. I've hunted up there when I was younger. You are spot on with your post.

My buddy's dad was the state senator from clay for several years. Owned the newspaper,Hotel and a big goat farm. I've hunted Clay several times and it is some beautiful country with awesome wildlife.

Yes it is. It's a damn shame about the condition of their economy up there. It's a very beautiful state.

I would never go back. I hate even going to visit and once my dad passes I'll never go back.

I hear ya loud and clear. I'm older than you, 54. But I'm in the exact same boat. My Dad is 85 and lives in South Charleston. Once he leaves us, I'll never go back up there ever again. NC is my home now and has been since 1986.

@Cowboy and I may even be closely related since were both from WV.:D:D

I once went out with this girl in high school. When we went to her house her mom and dad said hey do you know Ralph ____ I said yeah that's my grandfather and my dad is junior. They said well hate to put a damper on your two's date but your like third cousins. We just laughed and continued kissing.

Not really the date wasn't going anywhere anytime soon and she turned into a good friend.

That must be a barn load of death because I do a lot of dreaming. :p

She killed her first deer at 7. Her dad's ashes were scattered at their favorite hunting spot if it tells you how much of a life style it is.
Her and her husband used to run a guide service for trout, deer and bear. Her house was the first time I ever tried bear meat. Greasy but good.

Up in the mountains of WV, "Living off the land" is a very literal phrase.

People always say they want to live in the mountains. I always tell the they wouldn't make it in the mountains. It's a hard, bitter life even by today's standards. My people are those of a hard, proud group that will work all day and run the Hollar's all night. Unfortunately as you say the economy is pure crap but really little has ever changed in the mountains.

This may be the case, I’ll take your word for it. :)
I just can’t stand all the fake pretentiousness of todays hunting world.
This one may be the real deal but a majority of the time its a joke.

TH, I like you and I like your posts for the most part.

But here we have a young hunter, experienced for her age, making a gorgeous shot on a gorgeous (possibly a record) black bear, and for some reason you felt like the thing to do was to come on in and shit on it.

I would have thought you of all people would respect that?
I've noticed you do this with other achievements by women and in no way are you the only one. I'm probably guilty of it too. Maybe just a bad day or something else going on.

Disappointed honestly. You're better than that.

Again I can’t stand the commercialization of hunting and fishing. I don’t like the fakeness of it.
When I see some frilly little girl dental assistant claiming to be a bear hunting expert, when none of them have been killed without help from another person, it just makes me laugh.
Her two others where killed by shooting them out of a tree.
Again maybe I picked the wrong article to sound off on my displeasure of the artificialness of today’s “huntress of the wild”.
I don’t know any woman that are the real deal, I’m sure they are out there somewhere but I have yet to find one.

I’m sure this young girl is as sweet as she can be, she may even be a great hunting partner but a solo act (expert) she is not.

That being said ...

I shall not scat on this girl’s accomplishments any further.
Have a great evening.

No disagreement from me. I understand where you're coming from.

The young lady said she is an experienced hunter,
she never used the word expert.
