I needed to replace my garden hose after discovering a few leaks the other day. Was at Lowes today to pick up some new hose and also get a new hose cart. I got intrigued when I saw this hose and decided to go ahead and get it. They run a little more than conventional hoses, about $60.00 for 100 feet if I recall. It took me about 45 seconds to wind up 200 feet on the reel pictured below.

Anyone else have one of these hoses? If so, how's it holding up?

I have one, got it when I bought my house in July.

For some reason, they put the spigot on the opposite side of my driveway. So I have to hook it up, and bring it in front of my entire house.

Unfortunately, it has to go through some type of bush with thorns. Needless to say it got caught so like a dumbass I yanked it and it had probably 4 thorns in it. One made it through the mesh or whatever and seemed to be pretty deeep. Pissed off I figured next time I'd have to cover a hole or something to my amazement not a single leak. Thing is pretty durable and really easy to roll up (I don't have a rack yet)

Anyway, it's an awesome hose. You'll be happy with it, I abuse mine and it's holding up just fine. Oh another nice thing, it has that diamond grip shit on the metal part so you can grip it on the event that you can't get it off. Ok I'm done

Great. That's the kind of info I was looking for. I hate conventional water hoses. This hose is very light and easy to roll up. Also, it appears that it will evacuate water better when the water is shut off because it flattens as it is wound up on the reel. That's a major reason why stiff rubber outdoor hoses eventually fail. Some water remains in the hose over winter during freezing temperatures and eventually causes the hose to fail. Thanks for the feedback........ Dave

Yeah it's a great hose, I'd say probably 98% of the water comes out. I roll mine over my arms and by the time I'm done and put it in my garage there is no water coming out. Plus it's fairly light by comparison.

I find it doesn't matter how much I spend on a hose, if it stays outside it craps out after a few years. I'll have to get one of these since I just tossed out 100' of hose a few weeks ago.

Place i use to live we had a concrete pad out front we washed cars on with a heavy broom finsh on the concrete. That slab ate hoses i think, you would have a new hose and all the sudden a slight bulge would appear in case and then it start leaking soon after from rubbing on the slab.

Im curious how it holds as well Dave it looks like a cool idea and rolls up easy.

I've always wondered about consumer grade water hoses and how they're designed. To me, this hose I purchased is like a miniature fire hose. It goes flat when the water is shut off and it's not heavy like a rubber hose. Looks like a great idea. Can you imagine if fire fighters had to handle those water hoses and they were just huge versions of a rubber garden hose?

They sure wouldn't drag them near as fast or coil them up as small!

My dad had one. It got a bulge in it and popped like a balloon! Scared 10 years off his life!

I have one of the "never kink" hoses that is about 20 years old. It's on the north side of the house so it does not get direct sun on it. I also love the expanding hoses, have several of those. I have hose bibs on every side of my home (5), I hate houses with only one or two.

I hate 100 foot long hose lengths.

Why? Because my wife bought one, and a hose reel, and ever G*^-D*$%^ M*&#@$#-F*#!(%$ time I needed to use the hose, or put the hose up after someone else used it, the hose loops would be loose on the spool and I couldn't get the son-of-a-b*#)* either unspooled or rolled back up attain without spending a sh*&-load of time I didn't f*#$(^% have getting the d*#% thing untangled!

Then, after using the hose and rolling it up nicely, I'd come out again to use it another time and the SAME scenario would be waiting for me!

When that hose finally sprung a leak, I bought a 50 foot hose and pulled my knife out and cut the old hose up into satisfying short pieces and threw it away.

If she wants a longer hose, she can buy another 50 foot one that I can at least disconnect and pull out while I'm trying to untangle things.

I used this hose yesterday evening. I didn't run the water through the hose reel because I didn't need 200' of hose. So I just rolled out the first 100' and attached it directly to the bib directly. It was a pleasure unrolling and rolling this very light hose using the hose reel. If I get the same amount of usage out of it that I have with conventional rubber hoses before it springs a leak, then to me, it is well worth the extra few dollars.

On sale at Lowes for 49.00 a 100'. Picked up two of them as my back yard hose has been spliced 2--3 times and leaks like a sieve. Well see how it does. I despise dragging and coiling up a plastic hose.

Just thought I'd post an update on this hose. I've been dragging it all over my concrete driveway all summer and unreeling and reeling it over and over. I love this hose. It's light, easy to carry around, strong, tough, and dependable. I'll never buy another rubber garden hose again.

I've got 2, a 25' and a 100' for the flowers and garden. I keep water pressure on it and coil it over the holder.
Spins real nice loops until the nozzle end now, can't get the last 5' to spin up into a nice loop.

Otherwise, I like them.

We can talk about anything from deep social issues to shooting to gourmet garden hoses.

Philistine that I am, even I have one of those Zero-G hoses.

I have two 50's. They are the cats meow. No more hard plastic for me.

Dang! I wish I had seen this thread in March. I frickin' hate my hose. Stupid thing kinks all the time, a pain to roll up. I'm so going to buy one of these. Thanks for the heads up

I got one back in March based on Q's OP.. I like it a lot, as the other ones get destroyed or piss me off I will replace with more of the Zeros

I grabbed a 25 & 50 mid-March and while I don't know if I can yet say that I'll never buy another rubber hose, these things are great! I just love how durable they seem and how easy they are to handle. I've been dragging my 50ft'er all over the driveway and have yet to see any abrasion marks. Normal hoses are a royal PITA in comparison, and I have a pretty nice real box for my 100ft NeverKink hose.

I got a 50' for the front of the house. Also tried 3 of the stretching hoses. Those are a PoS. When they burst watch out, shrapnel!! Got hit in the ankle and limped for a few days.

The Zero-G is holding up after a winter of light use. Let's see what a summer is like. Light, does not stretch/shrink but that's ok. I got it for the light weight. Lowes is the same $ as Amazon and I can return it locally.

Probably going to pick up a 100' for the side yard/car wash hose in a couple of weeks.

This is my life....I have been at war with hoses, extension cords, and clothes hangers for over 50 years. Your first paragraph was like you were watching me this past week end.

So far so good. Added another 25' to the homestead. Working out great.

Edit: I did find some corrosion from dissimilar metals on the hose wand fitting. Put a touch of no ox. We'll see what happens.

I just bought 2 100 footers this spring. I haven't used them enough to see how tough they are but from what I'm reading here it sounds like they may be ok.

Ok we need an update to this thread. So tell me about you hoses boys!

He he he that's what she said!

It's big enough to hurt, more than long enough to reach bottom, and it makes me happy.

I'm all in on Zero-G. I'm replacing the rest of my Never-Kink premium hoses with Zero-G's. I haven't had any issues with durability and they are soooo much easier to handle around the yard.

If you're a car detail guy, or play one on the weekends, these hoses are really nice in that they won't coil up on you like a snake and smack the side of the vehicle when you walk around it. These stay on the ground but even if they were to hit the vehicle, the covering is soft and unlikely to scratch.
