I've just started adding a few steel targets to my long gun areas over the last year. After 35 years of punching mostly paper I decided it was finally time to spice things up a bit šŸ¤£ I'm also wanting to add a couple steel targets to my pistol area. I know a little about the safety of shooting steel from reading about it. Free hanging/moving targets or angled downward a bit to keep from getting any straight back type ricochet. I know about the different thicknesses of steel targets rated for different max calibers and the basics. My rifle area is on a downhill anyway and I have my steel hanging from chains at 50 yards and 100 yards and backstops. But my question for you guys and gals is when setting up some steel at 10 to 20 yards for my handguns what extra safety measures do I need to take for the shorter range? What kinda targets seem to be better for handgun shooting? Meaning hangers, spinners, pop ups, swinging or so forth. Thanks for any advice yall can give.
