Im a rental manager for a dealership in the area and I had an interesting convo with a customer today. This customer had his car towed in and had a flat tire and needed a rental. I noticed he was on crutches so I asked him if he sprained his ankle or broke it. The rest is as follows.
Him- No Its more like a puncture
Me- You step on a nail ?
Him- No, a bullet
Me- you shoot yourself in the foot?
Him- No, I got shot
Me- Why?
Him- Don't know, I got out of my car at my house, Dude walks up to me and pulls out a gun and takes a shot at me. Didn't say anything just started shooting. So I pulled out my pistol and started shooting back.
Me- How far away was he?
Him- Maybe 10 feet ?
Me- Did you shoot him too ?
Him- Yeah, think I got him twice because he fell down but kept on getting up and shooting at me .
Me- So, what happened to him ?
Him-He ran off when we ran out of bullets.
Me-He ran off, after getting hit twice? What kind of gun did you have ?
Him- Glock 40 cal with hollow points.
Me-What did you do then ?
Him- ran inside the house and called the police, they came by and looked at the video footage I have on the outside of my house and didn't charge me with anything and sent me to the hospital.
Me-Why are you here with a flat tire?
Him- When I came back home I saw that he shot my tire.So I called a tow truck and now I'm here.
Me- Why did he start shooting at you ?
Him- I have no idea, never seen this guy in my life. Im not into any drugs, not in a gang. All I do is work, come home pay bills and go back to work. Maybe its mistaken identy, I drive a flashy fast car, I really don't know.Al I know is that I'm blessed. I shouldn't be standing here in front of you today.
Me- Where did all those rounds go when you shooting at each other?
Him- My Aunts car that was in my driveway, its really messed up now. We were chasing each other around the car shooting at each other.
End of story, there is lots more but I condensed it down to this.
I learned a lot by talking to this young man, but what sticks the most is that even a 40 cal hollowpoint wont take anyone down unless its fatal hit zone.
Second, you can never tell when bad things might happen.
