I have owned many of these little cars. Ihave been wanting another and ran across a 1992 LX 5.0 Convertible in wild strawberry red. This one is mostly unmolested. It is in need of paint as it has clear coat peeling and has faded. It has a new top, strut tower brace, full length 2.5 Borla exhaust, Kenny Brown subframe connectors, 3.73 gears and a TCI street/strip AOD. We had a cruise in today in West Jefferson and around 500 cars and a few thousand people. I had a blast driving the little stang. If anyone is interested in coming to the next one it is scheduled for May 15th at 4:00pm until whenever folks go home. It is for anyone and any cars/trucks/bikes/etc.

Not shined up, but an honest car. The guy had it in his building and had put 185 miles on it last year. He decided it was time to let it go. He was the second owner and bought it in ‘03 from the original owner. He dealt in Mustangs and parts for years and this was his personal car.

Not a vert fan but nice example. Cars that are mostly original are fetching big $$$ these days
Junk is fetching big money too! I bid $2500 on a 93 4cy trunk car two weeks ago that had been sitting 10 years with an iffy title situation and didn't win it.

They have gone crazy. I have owned 7 fox bodies and have never seen anything like these prices. I bought mine from an old friend that sold it to me at a 2000ish price.

I remember when $12k for a nice 93 Cobra was a deal. What are they now?

I always wanted a Silver GT with Grey interior. I bought a 94 Supra Turbo instead. Can't say I regret my decision but I'd still like to have one.

Nice find and like you said, surprisingly original. It even has the plastic upper rad hose protector that would usually fall off and the rubber dist cap cover that everyone took off and threw away. The alum radiator is a good upgrade too..

Nice 'vert. I've had several fox bodies as well. Didn't like my drop top because of the seat belt arrangement so sold it. All the rest were hatches.

Probably preaching to the choir but if you like performance driving you should absolutely have some SFCs welded under that convertible, heck even if you don't. It'll feel like a different car.

Edit: well don't I look stupid. Should have read your entire post first. Nice find!!

Looked at a couple this evening. A guy I know has a few shells laying around. One being an 87 t top car.
I like the t-top cars. They are few and far between. I looked at an 86 GT T-top before finding this. I love the 4 eyed look , but the 87 up was always my favorite.

I kinda regret selling
1990 5.0 5sp notchback
These have become unobtanium, irrespective of price. Just impossible to find anything more than a project car. I looked for a long time and gave up after I sold the Cobra.

They stopped making T Top cars in early 1988, so an 87 or 88 with T Tops would be a rare bird.
Yeah one my friends had an 88 GT with t-tops. He told me wayback then that it was the last year of them. Sadly he only took them out a dozen times during the 10 years he had it.

There is a fox body mustang set up for track days in Charlotte. If I had the garage spaced it would be mine. Ive always had a love for 88-93 5.0 mustangs.

...and what is the fascination with people yanking the EFI and putting on a stupid Holley? If ite body isn't trashed, some dummy has hacked the wiring and dumped a carb on it. I looked at GSRs for a long time before buying an IS300 and folks would yank the AC and hack it all up. Drove me nuts.

preob2 engine management is the dinosaur of fuel injection. It’s cheaper and easier to make more power with a carb on old v8’s. Hell they make carb manifolds for ls motors. Consider the cars and the demographic...low buck v8’s attract young owners and with that often comes small budgets, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

My buddy had one of these, it ran forever and was trashed..
When he got a job in the city, bum's kept opening his broken door and stealing his change and random crap, so he drilled holes in it and mounted a hasp and lock.

Jealous! My first new car was an 89 LX 5.0 hatchback. I loved that car, the only car I’ve ever regretted getting rid of. I looked for another one several years ago and it was difficult to find one that wasn’t a total rebuild project. I still think they are the best looking models of Mustang ever made, will have another some day. Nice ride @charliedeltajuliet

Pard, I'm Just seeing this....Damn...you hit a Home Run. I had 4 of these. 3 Hatchs and a coupe. One of them was heavily "mortified" and would scald the tires in 3rd gear.
That little coupe I sold has bothered me for years.....pictures to come!

I love coupes. I had a SSP Georgia Highway Patrol coupe that I loved. This is just a cruiser, but has a TCI Streetfighter AOD that will handle the power I put to it. These little cars make me smile when I see/hear them and make me grin from ear to ear to drive or ride in them.

I had a friend who had one of the North Carolina highway patrol Mustangs from the mid/late-80s. He could flat out get and he ran it like a raped ape lol.

Isn't it amazing what we thought of as power back then....225 HP....carb powered through '85 then 1986 fuelies that were Awful. Finally got them straightened out and from '89 on they were the best bet for cheap go fast. Or what we thought was go fast....
I remember Hot Rod mag saying the Fox Fords were the 1955 Chevys of the future......not far off actually.

Just remember that what most folks are feeling on anything but a racetrack is more tq than hp, and those little Foxes typically had about 300 ft lbs of tq.
