Fox Body Fever (Mustang)

Great find. I was never a fan of the fox body but I can still appreciate a good looking older car.

No, it is stock height. The larger diameter wheels give that illusion. That was the first thing I said, “it looks like Ilowered it”.
Stock wheels, but lowered. I don’t recall but I’m thinking it was 1.5”. I really like the look of your wheels.

Are you gonna need a speedometer calibration? It looks like there’s a decent increase in rolling circumference.

Crazily, there is very little difference in height of the two. The 225/55-16‘s that were on it are almost the same height as the 245/45-17‘s that I went back with. I was shocked that they were almost identical when standing them side by side (height wise).

Dems Cobra wheels I do believe. Wonder if the rest of it is too.
She is real. #555 My old triple nickel car. I bought it with 15k miles on it in 1996. I don't know how it survived me but its stillsitting in the corner of the basement.

I’ve got an ‘85 (4 BBL) that I’ve had since new, 24,000 miles. Been in storage since ‘87. I’ve spent three times what the car cost storing it for all these years. Still smells new inside : )

Four eyes! I always loved those wheels. And it’s the right color. Arrest Me red!

Why wouldn't you just build your own unit for it? Beautiful car, might surprise you what it's worth these days.

The military liked to move me around every so often (and didn’t pay well enough to build a place). Once it was in storage it was just easier to pay every month. It’s been in the same place since 1995. It’ll be in my garage by the end of this month though.

It’ll never be sold, no matter what it’s worth.

Never said to sell it but if you haven't followed prices lately it will shock you.

Amazing. In 1985 I had a new Dodge Aries K car company vehicle and a new Harley FXRS. I can guarantee you that neither of them are now in the shape of that red Fox you got there.

For the longest time they were worthless. I guess because they made so many of them over the life of that body style. Mine is all original except I replaced the oem radio with an aftermarket unit the first weekend I owned it.

I’m sure as time goes on and all the beaters get put out to pasture it’ll continue to appreciate.

I used to keep up on Fox body stuff but haven’t paid much attention the last 5-10 years. One day I’ll buy a set of reproduction gatorbacks and show it a bit.

I see a Mecum auto auction in your future.

From Hagerty valuation guide on that ’85, FWIW

It was pretty close when I bought/sold that '92 LX 5.0 5 speed vert I posted up thread with 58,000 in 2015
and an '04 SVT Cobra with 30,000 in 2018

I looked at a four eye convertible before buying mine. There is just something about them. I had an ‘80 Mercury Capri that I did a V8 swap on, I wish I had that car back.

Thanks! Mine is between #1 and #2. 5-Speed, no cruise control, power windows or power locks (important distinction). I also have a NIB set of Cragar rear window louvers set aside for it. All the cool kids had rear window louvers back then : )

I still have the window sticker but I think I paid $11,700 in 1985 dollars. About all an E-5 could afford at the time : )

The storage unit just got too damned expensive. She’s back in my garage after 26 years sitting in the same storage unit.

Now to get a set of reproduction gatorbacks, correct a fuel supply issue and drive it a bit, maybe : )

Nice! What year? Original wheels? I had a 83 GT in that color with the TRX wheel/tire package. Not mine but looked just like this:

I loved the ‘83s. I looked at one but just couldn’t afford it as a young E4.

Mine is an ‘85. All original except the radio. 24K miles. I swear, I’m gonna drive it one of these days : )

Crazy low miles. You are right not to drive it much. Does yours have the interior light on the swivel mount? Lol I loved that.

As far as fox bodies I've had the 83 TRX GT, a silver 88 GT vert, and a burgandy red 93 LX 5.0. Lots of great memories in the first and last, didn't keep the vert long.

I had a 84 LX 5.0 coupe in black. Don’t have any pictures of the actual car but it looked like the one below. I love the old Fox bodies.
