Silver

i have now twice ordered the 20 buffalo rounds from walmart, only now TWICE to have the order IMMEDIATELY canceled by them...

something about location restrictions ..... I cannot get an adequate explanation from them............

I got tracking notice on AMPEX rounds right away?

Signature bank just failed, spots up $.71 but APMEX on Walmart is $0.40 cheaper. Haven’t gotten my order yet but about to buy more.

I keep the little solder pieces from work but haven’t done anything with them. It’s 15%. A lb of sticks is around $135. Do people buy scrap pieces like this?

Announced this evening, all deposits at SVB and Signature Bank are going to be covered, but there won’t be a bailout. This means that the stock and bondholders of the banks will not be protected, just the depositors.

Treasury and Fed are increasing liquidity to smaller banks, so the risk of this spreading is remote.

Equities are ticking up. I expect PMs to settle, perhaps before morning.

Showed up well packaged and discretely packaged. Nice official looking sealed tube with lot info etc. Just noticed the SKU doesn’t match the receipt but the bin info is the same.

Not surprisingly, should have ordered more last night… up $23 for 20 rounds from last night and $11 over what I paid Thursday.

Ordered Thursday, recieved today. No tax, no shipping. The middle bar packaging sleeve is torn but other than that, I'm happy. View attachment 594665
Obviously everything on the Internet is real, but do you feel any need to test this? I don’t, but my OCD is nagging me…

It's direct shipped from apmex so i think is good to go. I mean if you trust apmex... which i do. I totally understand your ocd though. I have a touch of it myself.

Curious, why bars? They seem to have a slightly higher premium. (I’m new to this if you can’t tell).

No worries. I'm new if not newer. I just like them.

If the day ever comes when they are completely useless, I'll still like to look at them.

I'll probably get some coins at some point but i have some of that already as well as those silver bullets (recieved as a gift a while back) so i figured I'd grab some bars.

I'm not terribly concerned with premiums at the moment. My buddy only buys junk silver and his stash is large but not much to look at. I enjoy looking at what i have. The junk i do have is bagged up.

On a side note, i looked at the change in my ashtray today and found a 1944 nickel... score! 😂

Appreciate it, and I win, I’m newer. I’m searching for pre ‘64 quarters now! But really just buying 5+ Oz per pay check for a while.

You're doing better than me. I've built my meager stash along the way starting with gifts and a couple old half dollars.

Just recently got back into it and can only spend around $1-200 at a time. But I'm mostly buying for my kids to have down the road so I'm trying to pick cool stuff and not stressing the premiums as much (It will all be free to them anyways). Just something fun to collect that will hopefully, at the very least, retain its value over time.

How do y'all store your silver? Do you just throw it in your gun safe? Mine is in my garage so it would probably be easy for a thief to get into.

I have a place.... Not a gun safe... that is hopefully hidden well enough. I've been considering vacuum sealing some lately.

Concealing was my thought compared to a safe if possible.

I agree. I think most robbers check the usual places. If they find a safe, they will focus on that. People rarely look in places like behind picture frames etc. I had a buddy that used to keep 10 grand in cash on the top of his ceiling fan and always left it running on low. I asked him why and he said have you ever turned off a ceiling fan and climbed up to look on top of it?

He did have high ceilings and needed a ladder to get to it.

Money or PMs behind insulation would be almost impossible for someone to find. Probably a common hiding place, but even so a robber won’t want to spend that much time looking.

Less than a decade ago I’d walk into small branches in rural areas and buy a few hundred dollars worth of rolled halves, I’d specifically ask for “not new”. On average would find a pre 64 in each roll. Some of those rolls have been sitting for a long time in rural areas.

Picking up a 1.25 sq ft safe this week for silver and handguns. I need a gun locker too for long guns.

I had a buddy who rented a house in Durham while in school. It wasn't a good neighborhood so he came up with the idea to keep a decoy safe in his closet with old forks, knives, and a bunch of pennies in it so it sounded full and felt heavy.

He kept all his real valuables in cardboard boxes in his attic labeled kids clothes.

He got broken into and guess what was stolen? He was so proud his idea worked that he wasn't even mad. Told his landlord the next day that he didn't feel safe and got out of his lease early with security deposit refunded in full.

Any thief can get into any safe if they 1) Find it 2) have time to. The trick isn’t to have a high dollar safe the trick is to have it hidden enough they can’t find it and uncomfortable enough they don’t want to stay and open it if they do find it. They’re gonna go through any side BUT the front with a. Hammer , drill, or torch. I suggest make a hidden place that doesn’t look like a safe and mount it so if they do find it the only side they can access is the front door.

Fair but more picking it up cause it’s free. Though if the idea isn’t to put anything valuable in it I might fail there… is the idea then to have a gun safe they can’t carry off and an alarm so they don’t have time to crack it?

Man, people are BUYING! I went to WM and all 20 pack of 1oz coins were sold out. They had 10 packs. I was going to buy 4, for 40 total coins. They had 4 left. By the time I got to check out they had removed 2. I ended up getting the last 2 they had for sale. Doesn't look like any 20 packs available at apmex.com.

It spiked early AM and has been settling slowly. Relax, this is not a game of timing the market, it’s a game of steady buying plus finding the occasional bargain. Most of the benefit is in making your cash less liquid, so you save rather than spend it on tacobell, not in sudden appreciation.
