YouTuber shot while making Prank Video

Pranks are the height of narcissism and disrespect. Pulling a prank on your buddy that you know well and can pre-judge their reaction is one thing.

But pulling one on a complete stranger? Nope. Good way to get your ass handed to you.

With a great attorney, I wouldn’t be surprised if the shooter gets the charges dismissed or severely reduced. The entire YT channel is evidence that he tries to get a reaction out of people, but this time he got more than he bargained for.

The only pranks I find funny are the non antagonistic ones.

Like the hot woman staring at the guy in the restaurant. And then finally putting on sun glasses, getting up with her blind walking stick and walking out.

Pulling a prank on people you know is one thing. Still may get you smacked into next week.

Doing something (a "prank") to cause a total stranger to initiate their "fight or flight" response is a hell of a way to wind up dead or at least experience "summer teeth".....

The last person I punched in the face was a friend who thought it would be funny to throw a cup of beer in my face at a keg party.

We were 19, and it was pretty much an involuntary reaction.

I am not a fan of pranks and also surprise parties. I don't celebrate my birthday much, but my friends all got together and decided to use my spare key to get in my place and surprise me with a party when I got home from work.

Then someone remembered I always carry. And how I was likely to react getting mobbed as I opened my front door. Instead they lured me to a restaurant lol

A prank CAN be funny, remember Candid Camera? But, today, it seems to have gone too far.

I do remember seeing a Middle Eastern version of Candid Camera that boggled my mind. A guy with a brief case would walk up to someone, like at a bus stop and ask if the person would hold the case for them. When they took it, the guy would turn and run. This was when bombings were prevalent. The victim would often drop or set the case down and run in the opposite direction in sheer panic. And they thought this was funny, in the Middle East!

So what exactly did he do? The vid won't play for me. If he ran up to somebody swinging a foam axe he should be shot again once he leaves the hospital just so it sinks in how absolutely dumb that is.

If it was something harmless that's another story.

I’ve been saying this for years… I’m really surprised more of these guys haven’t gotten shot.

Remember the clown stuff going on when the new IT was released?

If Krusty the crackhead clown emerged from the woods at Walmart while I was packing groceries, he’d be leaking all over the pavement gurgling, “It was just a prank bro dawg”.

I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. Don't get me wrong, I have a sense of humor and love a good gag. The thing is a lot of these youtube prank channels are based almost entirely on scaring an unsuspecting target to get an extreme reaction. Some people do funny things when they are scared like shriek and jump. Other people protect themselves from a perceived threat.

Youtube is full of jump-scare videos and it's a stupid way to get a chuckle. Jump out at someone with a machete in your hand and video it. Is that really funny to some people? Sounds like a good way to video a shooting. Seriously, in a country with more guns than people, psycho killer cosplay is a bad idea.

We don't know the details of this one yet. The prank victim was arrested so there is probable cause to believe he shot under unreasonable circumstances. Maybe he just articulated himself badly after the incident, or maybe he was in the wrong. If he was scared, he was defending himself. If he shot because he was mad about being made a fool of, he's a violent predator. We don't know yet.

Still, like I said at the start, I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often.

I've been a part of a couple of pranks but it was always light hearted, easy to fix stuff like taking the track ball out of your computer mouse and putting it in your desk drawer. I'm not a fan of antagonistic pranks that are likely to end with very angry people or violence.

Also, no pranks on people you don't know extremely well.

Had to respond for a guy a few years ago leaving a hardware store that got pranked pulling a prank. He had a group of teenage kids. He was obviously the leader of the crew. He had picked up whatever items the needed and had a 2x4 and some tools in his hand. One of the kids jumped out from behind a car to scare him. He swung the 2x4 like hacksaw Jim Dugan and the kid hit the pavement….he remained unconscious for several minutes. When we got there he was still seeing stars but was finally awake. The “boss” told his story and we took the kid to the ER. The boss said he would pick him up when he got discharged so he could get his stuff as the kid was fired. The other kids were scared to death.

From the article "Cook told the affiliate that the experience would not prevent him from making more prank videos in the future."
No lessons were learned.

Depending in the contents of the video and the prank...jury nullification.

Yeah. Between friends I enjoy stuff that isn’t intended to anger, harm or scare.

Like finding your office furniture gift wrapped and the floor 3 ft deep in balloons.

IF we apply gun control thinking … it’s all the gun’s fault … so the guy should not be charged no matter what … just sayin’ ..,

As to this idiot pulling pranks … the Internet fame quest and lack of respect for another person lead to a FAFO ending. I likely will have way more sympathy for the man who defended himself than for the idiot who harassed him when the video and details surface.

A long time ago I was dating a girl. Really nice girl.

She took me out for my birthday. While at the restaurant, some staff came out and did the “humiliating birthday song” thing to someone.

I said something like “I hate that. If someone ever did that to me I’d get up and walk right out.”

My date excused herself and disappeared for a minute.

Later, after dinner, the staff very quietly brought some complimentary cake. Turns out she had arranged for the song, and then cancelled it when she found out my feelings. Very thoughtful, in both cases. I wonder how she’s doing. Nicest girl I ever dated.

Dude I feel your pain, my family and I have a deal that none of us will ever have the staff come sing the song at our table on our birthdays, although we do joke about actually doing it to each other.

A couple of years ago it was my birthday so we went out for dinner and as soon as we finished our meal the staff started singing and clapping while walking towards our table and ended up standing right in front of us, right about the time I was starting to get pissed, the staff turned their backs to our table and sang the song to the people sitting next to us…… my wife and daughter literally died from laughter because they could visually tell I was hot, one of the staff heard our conversation as the girls ragged on me, laughing the whole time mind you, and staff member ended up bringing me a slice of cake looked at me and said Happy Birthday, I was dumbfounded for a second until the server burst into laughter and told us she heard our conversation and thought it was hilarious because her husband hates the birthday singing and chicken dance stuff too.

The truth is finally emerging. You haven’t all had your senses of humor surgically removed and you’re admitting in public that some pranks are funny.

Who’s going to choose this hill to die on and still say no pranks are ever funny?

I put some "cigarette lights” I procured via the back of a comic book in some of my dad’s smokes one night. When he would wake up in the morning, as soon as his feet hit the floor, he’d walk over to his dresser, and light up a smoke.

Oh-dark-thirty one morning around 1965 in south Charlotte, I’m lurking down the hall to my parents bedroom.

Dad gets up. I hear the zippo snap shut.

“POW, POW, POWPOWPOW!!"

A few seconds later, a father with a menacing scowl, in his skivvies, staring at the end of this blown apart Camel non-filter exits the master’s chambers.

Then catches sight of me lurking in the dark.

Let’s just say he failed to see the humor.

Hahahaaa! I did the same thing, the beating was worth it.
Good times

When I was a kid my brother smoked a pipe. He left it packed & unlit on the coffee table one day. I dumped it out and put a Black Cat firecracker in it with the fuse trimmed down to about 1/8", then repacked the pipe. He lit it after supper that evening and it was epic! 10/10 would do it again.

One of my coworkers was not familiar with local snakes and sent us a photo of a snake that he said was being aggressive with them while inspecting a bridge. He asked us if it was venomous...of course we said "yes". Told him it was a carolina mountain mamba, was extremely venomous, and he should give it a wide berth. It was a northern water snake.

We told him the truth when he got back to the office.

Youd shoot someone dressed as a clown?

Pranks, yeah, they can be fun. Dont injure anyone, dont cause monetary loss, dont humiliate.
But there's many ways and examples that a lighthearted prank can be good.

Sorry, I should’ve prefaced that statement with how much I hate clowns.

And yes, on principle alone.

(It’s a joke)
