Anyone ever go Yellowhammer (pronounced Yella Hamma) hunting in Tobacco barns at night? You climb up to the top and grab them sleeping from behind. My cousin reached up one night and grabbed a hawk. Great fun was had by all!
The humanity!, Letting an old log barn get that way to start with.
This^^^ Many (many) years ago I worked in a shop that made barnwood picture frames. They were always out and about looking for new sources of wood to work with. If you can't find any other use I am sure someone would pay for it.People love old barn wood. They make cabinets and flooring of it most of the time. Pull it, plane it, use it, I guess. There are reclaimed lumber companies that will come get it if there is enough of it, I’m sure.
I have no idea, I am not that good... lolI pulled this square nail out of a truss.
Does that give any date range? Pre WWII?

Old tobacco barn on my property.
It has square nails, hand hewn beams and quite a few very nice round hanger beams.
The roof has kept alot of the wood dry and off the ground, but it won't last forever.
I'd like to see the wood used for something, and get rid of the eyesore.
Ideas?
I just found this.
