As an outsider and introvert, I can attest to the kindness and fellowship of everybody there. The best part was meeting good folks and seeing some of Billy's amazing collection . I can't thank him and his wife enough for opening their estate to us and arranging this whole event, even if I did shoot the BMG like a floppy ragdoll. I'm also grateful for all the other CFF staff and other Battery Oaks regulars that made me feel so welcome and worked to make this event possible.
Had a great time talking to @Stick Man , @bigfelipe , and @BatteryOaksBilly after the crowd thinned out.
It was joking, see the smiley face? With the results she had, she needs NO instruction. 2 for 2 can't be improved on. Go Amy!!
Thought you enjoyed talking to some of us BEFORE the crowd thinned out. Guess I wasn’t cool enough.

You brought the apple dumplings!?! Son, those things were delish!!!Thanks, and I'll pass that on to the respective parties. Next time I'll know to bring more apple dumplins.

Doooood, those apple dumplings are the shnizzzle. My wife has requested the recipe, if your family is willing to give it up.
Give your mom a thanks and a hug. Many thanks. I've shared the recipe as best I can.
I thought my wife made the dumplins but it was my mother, so here is the recipe, verbatim from her. Since this is my mother, consider this a disclaimer not to read if you are easily offended, confused, ethnic, unrepentantly northern, or have blood glucose issues. I'm sure all of these "measurements" are purely estimates and eyeballs, so don't feel constrained by anything the AMA might warn you against.
2 cans Great Value Big Butter Crescent rolls (that is the Wal Mart brand)
12 oz Mtn Dew
1 & 1/2 cups of sugar
Cinnamon/apple pie spice to taste
1 stick of butter (I asked if it was salted butter and she laughed "yes, unless you're quair or something""
4-5 large Granny Smith apples which have to be from the Carolinas, apparently because those apples from Spanish or near Spanish (Florida?) speaking countries are flavorless trash. More commentary came with that, but it probably isn't needed here.
Mix the sugar, melted butter, and spice in a bowl, it'll be grainy.
Whop the crescent rolls
Roll up about a quarter to a half of each apple (sliced thin) in each crescent roll, peench it shut and put the seam down in:
a 9"x13" (you know, from "here to there" with your hands) GREASED pan until you've filled the pan.
Put a handful of the grainy mix over each dumplin, then pour the Mountain Dew over the whole thing.
The oven should have been preheated to 350 before all of this
bake 40-45 minutes.
That’s the best commentary on a recipe lol
I like picking apples at Sky Top in flat rock. Take my son up there every fall. We get lots of Granny Smith apples for cooking with
She needs to sign up on here now. We're glad you both made the effort to come. That was a big tree! What happens when dad cuts up the fallen tree and liberates himself...
convinces his daughter to keep him company...
prepays a way overpriced hotel room...
drives 4 hours to Conway...
buys a bunch of tickets to the drawing?
SHE wins a package of cool coffee with the ticket she got just by showing up.

Isn't it cool she doesn't drink coffee?
