*sigh*
This has been disproved so many times over decades I can't even begin to count. Even the insurers themselves agree.
Motorcycle riders are not increasing your cost or ability to acquire insurance in any way shape or form. Matter of fact, cage driving insurance rates have plummeted downward while motorcycle ownership has exploded in popularity. The overwhelming largest threat to a motorcyclist's safety comes not from personal decisions, but instead from you and your cell phone stabbing/french fry eating/radio effin/child slapping/book reading/makeup installing/beer drinking/ car driving self.
Your position is popular with haters. The freedom a motorcycle provides escapes you, but the jealousy does not. Doctors and Nurses gleefully hate motorcycles too, while conveniently omitting the car driving stumps that come into the ER are 100x more common than anyone from a motorcycle, and for reasons that excel in stupidity.
The worst injuries I ever received were from people hitting me with their effin car, and that includes a 10 year stint racing the damn things.
As a group, motorcycle riders are the most alert, most aware, least cited, and best drivers on the road. They have to be.
Personally, I wear the very best helmet money can buy, currently an $800 Arai. I have never argued that helmets don't work, they absolutely do. The new technology with helmets is amazing.
If your insurance rates increase, it's because of the stupid s--- that you and your like do, and not because of the freedoms others pursue and cherish.
