Can a Poll be setup so members can select a date from a list?
This is how we did it on that other site most of us were on.
 
Alamance guys need to know a date so we don't schedule the chili con carne the same weekend in case someone wants to attend both. I'd be happy to crash this assuming I'm free.

I couldn't go that far ahead with my work schedule.

Here's what I'd recommend:

Choose 2 or 3 dates, best guesses based on activities such as known school dates, church times, and other such activities as Trump protest rallies and LGBT marches.

Then put that out for people to provide feedback on. Pick a primary date and maybe a rain date as a backup from that.

The rest of us will then plan around those dates as best as our own activities permit.


You'll never be able to get everybody there, that's a given. But this method will save you a lot of haggling by streamlining the process down by providing a handful of dates to choose from.

2 months of weekends are available to choose from.... This is getting worse than trying to pick a restaurant with my wife.

Yep. I feel for ya. That's why I recommended making a short list of dates and let attendance fall where it will based on what's most popular here.

If I can make it...I'll come. If I can't...I won't. It's that simple.

And I won't be offended if I can't, because I know you can't accommodate everybody in the first place.
 
Organizing a get-together? No good deed goes unpunished. Maybe that'll make Matt Cross. :D

Seriously, though, I'm very lucky to be so flexible. I encourage you (MC) and all of us to endeavor to persevere so we can meet up for some fun.

Perhaps a weekend-long thing could be arranged: camping on-site, hotels nearby, Fri or Sat to Sun, some could make it one day, others the next?

Once we pick a date & location, I'd chip in some labor to get set up, shop for vittles, haul gear, or whatever else I could do to help out.

I'm good to go, just getting tired of explaining that I'm not even trying to make it work for everyone, but as many as possible. I appreciate your volunteerism, I'll take you up on it.

Since you're the man with the plan, I vote you pick a date. Being that it's several months out, that will give folks who are really interested plenty of time to arrange their schedules.

Saturday, October 14th. I need feedback on who can and who cannot make that date. It is not the fixed date, it's a starting point.

I've got numbers on who wants to do it, I now require numbers on who can/cannot on the given date. You're welcome to post your availability here if you so desire....

I forgot what I said last month, but I'm still in. I'll volunteer time --set up, clean up, etc.
 
I say, choose a month, looks like you have Oct 14 as a "start", or the end of one/beginning of the other, set a poll with those dates and let members vote.
Date with most votes rules.
Those that can make it, will.
Those that can't, maybe will change their plans and attend, or won't be able to.

You can't accommodate everyone...

Like, choose all the Saturdays in October for the poll or the last 2 of September/first 2 of October and run with it.

You can't try to do this via PMs, just works better with a poll of dates for members to vote on....

I would be glad to host one at my farm. I do have a 300 yard range/ bench, and pistol steel. Last one had 30-40 members there. It would be best if it was on a Weekday, since my elderly mother who lives across the street raises hell at me when she hears a lot of shooting. (shes 76 and still goes to work everyday) And there will be a lot of shooting. If you look at the members picture thread…. a bunch of @MuzzerFuzzer 's pics came from that shin dig.

Maybe a Friday a little bit in advance? I am 10 mins off 77 between Elkin and Dobson.

I am 2.5ish hrs from Raleigh
I am 2.5ish hours from Asheville
45 mins from Winston Salem
30 mins North of Statesville
16 f-ing hours (I think) from the Low Country Range
9.5 hours from Ginnie Springs/High Springs Florida
13.5 Hours from some tractor guys place in Iowa


And if you guys wanted to do a GSW/Range first Aid course….we could do two hours of that before the shenanigans. And I have a huge house with nothing upstairs. If you bring a cot and sleeping bag, you can crash for the night in the A/C-electricity, or a local cheap hotel that you wont get robbed at.

Denver Defense can do a room rental and block off lanes if the times are before peak hours. Something to consider. Could have food catered in but lots of high quality restaurants in the area with 10 minutes. I spoke to the owner today to see what could be done. Just a suggestion.

They have a 50 yard indoor rifle room and 12 pistol lanes. State of the art indoor range. Would be a good half way point for the western part of the state.
 
I was going to mention @Sneakymedic and his farm. Last time I went there it was only a handful of us but it was a great time. Don't know if I could swing a friday but it could be possible if it was planned out ahead of time.

never been there but not to bad a drive for me
 
I think a new thread should be started, as this one is already 80 posts and no definitive date.
You can put a link to this thread in the OP of the new thread, if you wish, so if anyone needs to reference this one, they can...

Do the poll with dates, decide when the poll will close and then use the most popular date for you get together.
