Hello all,

I plan on getting a suppressor for my 10/22 takedown. I didn’t think about that when I originally purchased the rifle so my current barrel isn’t threaded. Should I get a replacement threaded Ruger barrel, thread the one I have, or use this as an opportunity to upgrade to an aftermarket threaded barrel?

Anyone Been down this road? If so, any recommendations?

Thanks!

Outside shooting suppressed what is your intended purpose? Plinking, hunting, precision shooting & etc.

Yeah…

Ordered a 16.5” threaded barrel from these folks. New takeoffs from 10/22 TD models. Comes with the TD assembly, sights and muzzle device. $150

The stainless model, equipped with f/o sights…I think it runs around $180.

They also have 10” threaded takedown barrel assemblies for the Ruger Charger. I seriously considered getting one of those and doing a Form 1 for my 10/22…gonna suppress mine, as well.

Thanks, I hadn’t run across these yet. I’ll check them out for sure.

Mostly plinking and hunting to start, but maybe some precision shooting a little later.
If you are just plinking and hunting, I’d buy a factory threaded barrel. @Dale Gribble listed a good source. You may want to check the site below. They run really good sales on factory new take off parts. However, if it is going to pull double duty and for precision, I’d look at a custom barrel from TacSol or Volquartsen.

Those do look like a good option, but I‘m thinking I might want to use the suppressor on other guns too. I’ll look at them closer though.
That’s why you buy at least one more rimfire can. I have 10 12 (forgot about two others)…so there’s your starting target. 😝

I got a factory threaded from ShopRuger on 10/22/22 for 1/2 off. They didn’t do the same same this year but if you’re not in a Rush maybe sign up for alerts from them. They’re always discounting something.

They seem to have gotten stupidly expensive since I got it, but I went with one of these: https://tacticalsol.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=1366891&CAT=13312

With the can in there it adds 1/2" to the OAL vs. the standard barrels without a can. It's like a cheater SBR. They included a fake suppressor to install if you don't want to run the real thing all the time. Works with the backpacker stock:
