14-year-old arrested for carrying weapon of mass destruction

And I believe it wasn’t too long ago there was a video of a teenager messing with cars and got very aggressive and assaulted the park employee. Some people felt the teenager didn’t have the potential for violence, but as we see here teenagers are just as deadly. Like I said, folks teenagers will kill you just as dead as any adult. And in some cases they will react impulsively and kill you sooner than an adult. Because they are a minor do not take that as a weakness in their column and a strength in your’s.

Like the 19 year old that in cold blood murdered but they call him a teenager.
 
I wonder about the dimensions of that firearm. Is it really too short as far as the barrel and OAL are concerned? My late hunting buddy had a single barrel shotgun under his bed that was about 1/2 inch too long for both the barrel and OAL to be illegal. I measured it twice before I took it out of his widow's home.
 
whatcha wanna bet it had a 20 gauge shell in it? (as it is 99% a 12 gauge)

Kinda surprised he left the barrel so long.

I’m surprised they didn’t use the correct term. All NFA items in NC are Weapons of Mass Death & Destruction…which is definitely worse than WMDs, right? 😁

If it is the gun pictured, then yeah it’s short. Looks to be chopped right after the forend. Remember shotguns must have a barrel length of at least 18”.

I wouldn’t think it met the 18” barrel or the 26” OAL requirements based on what I can see.

Also wouldn’t be a lot of fun to shoot. 😳
 
The old Jim Crow laws in Durham were written such that they considered a short barreled SG to be a "WMD". I forget how many other things, but it was a lot.
 
And just a little info for those that don’t keep up with the NFA rules. In the configuration I see in the pic, it’s not really a shotgun by definition. A shotgun is designed to be fired from the shoulder.

But it’s still considered an SBS (Short-Barreled Shotgun) because it meets the definition of a “weapon made from a shotgun”. One of those cases where you could have two firearms that look identical, but one is just a “firearm” and the other is an SBS because of what the original configuration was. (You can do the same thing with an AR pistol and an SBR)

No mention of it being loaded when he was apprehended.

The MSM always like to refer to the weapon as a "loaded gun" or even once a month ago I heard "fully loaded gun" just to add a little drama to the situation.

The way that barrel is cut it has an effective range of about 8', but only if you are below the muzzle line. That is not going to be a straight shooter.
 
I get the legalese but I will say when I hear "WMD" I am thinking nukes, cluster bombs etc...
