My daughter was coming home from school for the weekend and called me just before lunch. She made a stop in High Point and said when she started back up her check engine light came on. She said everything seemed to be running fine so I told her to drive it on home and told her to stop by our mechanic to see if he could read the code.
She stopped by and he read the code and told her she needed the O2 sensor, bank 1, sensor 1 and he showed her which one it was. She called me and told me what it was and I went online and ordered it from Advance Auto to pick up in store and saved 25%, $40 off of $159.99 sensor.
She went to Advance picked up the sensor and the socket to fit. I called her and told her to go ahead and spray some PB Blaster on the threads and I would fix it this weekend. Left work early to come home and take care of it and on the way home I get a text picture, below, and phone call that she had already taken the old one out, put anti-seize on the threads and installed the new one. She then took the OB2 reader out and deleted the code, all before I got home to do it.
She said she learned that mechanics should not have long hair! Very proud of her. Not bad for a 19 y/o majoring in biology/pre-med with a 4.0 GPA. She has also helped fix our clothes dryer and dishwasher. She has been sitting on the arm of my recliner and on me most of the evening.
