How feasible would it be to modify a 2011 grip module to accept cheaper type of magazine or vice versa?

I was thinking how convenient it would be if someone designed a grip module to accept a cheaper type of magazine like a glock mag, but I remembered that the 2011 mags narrow at the top to fit the frame's feeding area (cant recall a proper term for that section) since it was designed to be fed from a single stack magazine. I don't think any other doublestack mag fed pistol uses a magazine like that though. Am I wrong?

I know Staccato has a single stack model, but as far as I am aware, the grip module itself is not being sold on it's own.

So then what if a magwell insert could be made to accept normal 1911 magazines? Could that work consistently?

Thanks for your time.

Even if it ‘s possible, I cant imagine a correct and well done pistol modification being a cost savings over a few spendy magazines.

If I recall Caspian used to make a double stack frame that took Tanfoglio mag bodies.

Price of mags from Staccato is one of the reasons I won’t even buy one of their 2011s.

If you can afford a Staccato, you can afford the mags.

Well, here’s how my math worked. Some of the fastest shooters I know (not running race guns) are shooting $600 Glocks, running $30 mags.

Multiply the price of the gun x3 (or 4) and the mags x3, and you get Staccato.

I might shoot it incrementally better, but...

I think there are other nice options for staccatos. All likely make the factory mags seem like a great deal.

Down a rabbit hole.
Could it be done... Absolutely...

Modify the 2011 mag body to allow a single stack mag to align and drop in. It would take some fabrication and TiG welding.

A "spacer" that was similar to a 2011 mag body that accepted a magazine might be possible too.

Whats your budget??

Would it be cost effective..
Never..

As @John Travis said.. "Rabbit Hole"...

Why neuter a nice double stacks capacity capability??

Just buy a single stack and save some $$...
