I have a 2014 Honda Pilot that has a flaky backup camera.
Sometimes it works fine and sometimes the image is near-black. It seems to coincide with hot days but not 100%.
When it fails you'll see a blank screen with the lines of the backup overlay. It's getting an image, but it's so dark it looks black. If I shine a light into the camera lens you can see it on the screen.
Google says "adjust your brightness". We tried that - brightness settings are maxed out. It doesn't fix the problem. Our car has not yet been to the dealer, but others report no help there, and I don't want to pay them to go fishing.
I hope to fix this myself if possible and any help from the gun nut gallery is much appreciated.
