Looks like I'll be taking part in the 2021 USMC Marksmanship Competition next month at Camp Lejeune.

Any other Devils going to be there? I'm using my annual training for this.

Top 10% of shooters are awarded a badge and are invited to the Championship in Quantico, sadly I won't be able to make it even if I'm selected.

Here's a video a few years old at the competition in Hawaii.

I did it in the early 90s when I was at MCRD SD. Did it for about 2 years. Got half way to distinguished before moving on to billets that didn’t support my doing it. Great fun, great learning opportunity. Make sure you bring the marksmanship skills back to your unit, that’s the real benefit in sending folks. I always had Marines want to go and that was the deal if I let them, they gotta pay it forward.

Looks like Division Matches have changed a bit since I was in! I shot Division Matches in Pendleton and Okinawa, then Marine Corps Matches at CLNC. Shot and coached with the Marine Summer Team a few times. Went Distinguished in 1986. Best finish was 2nd that same year. Had a lot of fun shooting in what was then the "Competition in Arms" program. Here's wishing you the very best of luck, and enjoy yourself. Semper Fi, Mac!

Here's some photos from a two day training event that MARSOC facilitated for us. Really grateful for the privilege and opportunity to participate. I'm looking forward to putting what I've learned into practice at the competition.

That brass on the floor is a trip hazard. I'll be glad to come and remove it for you guys:rolleyes:

<---former corpsman.

@rbell2915 are you in the Reserve (re: 'annual training' comment)? What unit?

Sounds like a great opportunity. Yeah, nice range at Stone Bay. MARSOC has mad money.
I'm a reservist with the Deployment Processing Command at Lejeune. I was with 1/3 when I was active. Looks like I'll be in 4th LAR in a few years if I decide to stick around long enough.

4th LAR still in Quantico?

I was 4th recon bn, 3rd force recon co, 4th fssg on the reserve side. I did a few drills with LAR, really enjoyed it.

Best of luck in the competition! Looks like an awesome opportunity!

Good luck! I hope you qualify for the Championship...and, if you do, you better do what you can to get there. Its a frickin blast!
I qualified for, and competed in, the 2019 Army Reserve Small Arms Championships. My team finished middle of the pack, but I wouldnt trade the experience for anything. Lots of good training and a little individual range time with both the cadre and some world class shooters between events.

I'd probably be with Fox company in SC.

I'm definitely learning a lot of good stuff. Competition begins next week. It's been classes, Annual Rifle Training, and Combat Pistol Program this week.

The competition began today. My squad started on the action stages (primarily focused on pistols). It's way harder than it looks and I've made a few bad shots. Beating myself up over it because I know I should be better than this. Tomorrow we will be doing an unknown distance range and Thursday morning will be the team matches.

Shake it off and get yer brain in the game...................;)
