Over the last 6+ months I've had a lot of occasions where I've needed a very discrete/deep cover option with some wardrobe restrictions so pocket carry was what I came up with. I've tried three options, and will cover each in turn:

1. desantis nemesis
2. Bora II all kydex clip
2. ruger holster that comes with the newer LCP

The nemesis is the holster I've had the longest, I got it with my original LCP as it didn't come with a holster like they do now. It took a while to 'break in' and has curved to fit my pocket ok.
IMG_4934.JPG
Pros:
- stays put when you draw, even with slightly poor technique
- fills the 'base' of the pocket so the pistol can't rotate

Cons:
- bulky, doesn't scream GUN in your pocket but is quite fat and nullifies some of the advantages to a slim pistol
- says it's for the LCP but it's got too much room for the muzzle and lets the trigger guard get exposed just a bit, probably has to fit the P3AT and others with the same model holster
- muzzle is open, lint and crap can get in there

Bora II, I've had this one for a few years and was carrying it the most.
IMG_4936.JPG
Pros:
- small and light, adds no width to the pistol and very little weight
- trigger is totally covered all the time
- stays put if you have to stick the pistol somewhere else (bag, jacket pocket, whatever), it's not coming off by accident even with the pistol rattling around
- can load/unload without removing the holster

Cons:
- easy to have it stay on the pistol when you draw, if you're not exactly correct with your technique it stays put
- turns over in my pocket, ends up 'slide down' after lots of activity and I've got to reach in and rotate it. leads to a lot of fiddling.
- the slide can print on the pocket... not sure anyone could tell it's a gun unless you told them and they were really familiar with the rear slide profile of an LCP
- muzzle is 100% open (but I've taken to putting a piece of gaffers tape over the muzzle and onto the holster, it stays with the holster during the draw in every test I've done)

The Ruger holster I just saw sitting in the box and thought... why not try it?
IMG_4935.JPG
Pros:
- super comfortable. It's the only option where I can actually 'forget' that the pistol is there
- much less bulky than the desantis, now that it's broken in it's very flat and adds minor thickness
- exactly fits the LCP, covers the whole trigger guard and the muzzle is right into the end of the holster
- muzzle end sealed, no getting lint in there.

Cons:
- not as fool proof to draw from as the desantis (but way easier than the Bora)
- not ridged... maybe you could get at the trigger but you would have to really try so more of a 'meh' than an actual con
- lower quality than the desantis, it's already showing wear after just a few months

Now that I've got a few months with each, I'm carrying it in the Ruger holster almost exclusively. It's the best compromise on size, comfort (best there actually), ability to draw and trigger protection. I keep the bora in my bag in case I have to ditch the pistol somewhere I can clip it into that and know the trigger will not be exposed.

So there ya go, I had no idea the best option for me was sitting there right in the box.... if only my first LCP had come with one. But let's be honest, I still would have tried others. Can't imagine an OEM does the best job at something....

Been using one of these with an lc9/lc9s for about 11 years now. CDNN sells them for $5.99
Over 11 years I've tried all manner of pocket holster with these lc9's and I keep using the cheap uncle mikes size 4. It works good and I'm quick with it.

I wonder if you tried this one, and if so, what you thought:

I like mine, if that's of any value to know.

Back when I was pocket carrying, tried a bunch of kydex options and found Alabama holster to be the most well designed and executed.

I haven't, but based on the experiences I've had I wouldn't want to test that one. A whole lotta sharp plastic edges, seems like it would ride like the bora but be extra uncomfortable. Would solve the draw problem, and let you reholster without removing the holster from the pocket first (maybe).

I'm a fan of Sticky holsters. For me, the LCP Max draws clean of the holster 100% of the time. The Ruger freebie doesn't. The Max can fall out of the Ruger if my pocket is generous enough in size (winter coat). I don't notice any difference in bulk or comfort, but the Sticky makes it less noticeable as a gun and I think that's based a a little extra bulk.

I also have a Sticky for my G43. I cut some stitching so it would accommodate a TLR light. This works great, but if I stuff it in there with too much force the rear sight can catch a little on the trim material. I really should round off the sights or cut the holster a bit, but I don't carry the G43 much anymore so lazy will probably win the day.

I prefer to pocket carry. I have tried a bunch of pocket holsters over the years; DeSantis, Uncle Mike's, Mika, Galco, Ruger, on and on. I have settled on the Galco Pocket Pro. Minimal size and the holster stays in the pocket when the gun is drawn.

I am quite fond of the Galco pocket holsters.

That leather looks nice and thin and not adding a lot of bulk; I suspect those are pretty comfy to carry.

How's the draw, does the leather get enough grip on the pocket to stay put or do you have to hook the edge of the holster on the edge of the pocket with the draw?

I have an Alabama pocket holster too, and I like it a lot — if it fits the pocket in the pants I’m wearing. Because it is rigid, it is unforgiving of pocket shape.

the freebie holster my lcp came with is closed at the end. it has become my sweatpants/shorts pocket gun.
i'd like it if the holster covered up a bit higher, but it's okay for the most part

I use pocket carry primarily when I'm around the house. It's usually my naa 22mag mini revolver and sometimes my Italian 25acp. I made some rough out holsters for them that have worked great. And the rough out adds little extra friction against the pocket to help keep holster in pocket on the draw. 20231210_113834.jpgI've also made several "shoot through" style pocket holsters that isn't for everybody but seems to have a place depending on circumstances. 20220816_114737.jpg

I've been using this for my P365 for I can't remember how long.... no complaints

It's actually not as sharp edged as their photos indicate. You do want the one with the "thumb thing" and for it to be curved.

The one thing I've found with pocket holsters is that they need to match the profile of your pocket, the jeans I wear have flat bottom pockets and the gun/holster never moves, in some of my shorts, the bottom of the pockets are curved and it doesn't "seat" and rolls all over the place.

I second the galco pocket protector. It's the best one I have tried so far. I did modify mine though. I used a seam ripper on the top edge. Pulled out the wire stiffener and trimmed it at the line where the wire was. I found that the fold around the wire printed worse than any part of the grip.

It does stick to the pocket well enough to draw without dragging on the back of your pocket but I still do it anyways as an added precaution.

Is has zero retention but keeps the pistol in place and angled how ever you place it in your pocket.

If you were to go ass over tea kettle the gun could easily fall out of your pocket. I definitely leave this setup at home when seeing the dentist 🦷 🤣

I find the Nemesis comes out of my pocket still on the pistol if I don't do a funky motion to hook it on my pocket edge. I would love to remedy this issue.

The DeSantis Superfly is basically just a better version of the Nemesis, because it includes a detachable rectangular flap to fully cover the shape of the gun's grip for those super sneaky pocket carry situations.

My Superfly (made for the Ruger LCP II) also fully covers the trigger guard on my LCP II.

No offense, but I really don't think the safety trade-off makes sense with that one. If you carry in that, are the odds of you ever needing to use the gun really greater than the odds of you ever accidentally shooting yourself or someone else? This isn't a DA revolver trigger we're dealing with.

No offense taken sir. Carrying a firearm of any type and any type of holster requires practice to be as safe as can be. The people I have made the shoot through style pocket holsters for love them including some disabled vets. I wouldn't advise having keys or anything else in the same pocket with this style holster because of the way it works. Like said it's not a style for everybody but it has been proven to be a viable option for certain situations and people.
