Easily preventable tragedy and yet no charges? I have to say that when this happens, there should be charges because someone was blatantly negligent.

That is one of the problems with NCGS 14-315.1. It requires the person to live with the minor child. Without all the details aren’t in the article and no changes are filed. It must be something about the living arrangements.

Nonetheless, you are right. No matter where the child or person who owns the firearm lives. The owner was negligent and should be charged.
