I'm trying to figure out if there is anyone who can help me with a alignment check on my suppressor to my thread adapter to my barrel on my AK-47 in 7.62x39? My suppressor I built after my form1 approval is made by a lathe and other machining tools I have access to and it runs perfect and very quiet on my AR-15 in 223/556 but when I made it and sent the information on the form1 as a 7.62 because I was making it for a 308 but I screwed up and put a 1/2x28 RH female thread on it instead of the 5/8x24 like I should have. I know it's a rookie mistake but it was my first suppressor build so I was a rookie and probably still am lol.

But my question is since my AK-47 has a 14x1LH thread and I have a 14x1LH to 1/2x28 thread adapter and when I put everything on with the suppressor it looks like it will clear with no baffle strikes and I also put a 7.62x39 bullet size bore sighter light in the chamber and it looked like it was clearing the suppressor without baffle strikes too but I don't want to just trust a light and my eyes alone and wanted to get some other advice on checking the clearance before I shoot it and risk destroying my suppressor or something worse. I've heard people say that you can shoot 7.62 bullets through 1/2x28 but it's recommended to go 5/8x24 but I can't rethread the suppressor the way I built it without messing it up completely. So does anyone have a idea of what I can do to double check the clearance and do you think it will be okay shooting 7.62 through 1/2x28? I know that I can check it with a alignment rod for .30 caliber but I don't have one nor have access to one unless someone on the forum close to me has one I can use for a minute? Any advice on this and information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I got mine from CNCWarrior years ago. Not sure if they still make them. You have a lathe, can you turn one for yourself?

I'm sure I can turn one myself but I was trying to see if I can get one without having to do that because I recently reinjured my shoulder and back the I have pins and plates in and my shoulder is mostly artificial with metal collar bone, metal shoulder blade, steel rod in my bicep, and plastic rotor cuff assembly and it's been hard to do and in the shop lately that requires a lot of standing in one place and leading over and working the equipment. But hopefully it will get better soon and it's just jard up bad from the fall I had recently when I went through my bathroom floor the other day that my landlord was supposed to have replaced recently but didn't.

But thanks for the info on CNC warrior and I will check out if they have one. I've purchased a lot of thread adapters and other stuff from them before and I was very impressed with the prices they have and the inventory on some of the hard to find parts that I was needing.

If you are asking if a .308 projectile will work with a 1/2x28 thread then the answer is yes but please read. I have seen a number of older hunting rifles come through my shop that are threaded 1/2x28 for muzzle brakes and even one on a 300 RUM. I don't reccomend ever going below .100 thou for barrel wall thickness and I won't do it in my shop but I've seen a bunch that have with no problems. I have heard that the muzzle can mushroom when you start getting thin with the case wall thickness. I personally have never seen it with my own eyes but I also will not test against that theory

Thanks for the information on this and I definitely agree with you on the barrel thickness. My question was mainly about the thread adapter for the AK-47 I have is going from a 14x1LH to 1/2x28 and I wanted to make sure I have enough clearance for the 7.62 projectiles to travel through without baffle strikes. But I checked the suppressor multiple different ways when on the gun with the thread adapter and it was clear but I made the suppressor for a 308 but I accidentally put a 1/2x28 thread on it instead of 5/8x24 but I shot the rifle yesterday with the suppressor and I didn't have a issue at all and it works excellent. But I still recommend a 5/8x24 thread on any 30 caliber setup and will always use that thread on 30 caliber no matter what but this was my first form 1 suppressor build from years ago so I have got a lot better at them and definitely make sure I use the proper thread size.
