Talked to my Dad tonight. He’s getting ready to click over to 79 in about a month.

Long story short, he has a Remington PSS chambered for .300 WM. It pretty much sits in the safe and doesn’t get used. He told me he’s getting ready to hand it down to me, because he knows if I have it in the stable, it’ll get plenty of range time.

Any of y’all have any recipes, favorite loads, preferred powders/components?

Thanks!

Shane

I use 190gr Hornady or Sierra Matchkings in my 1/10 twist .300 mags, but I only shoot paper and steel silhouettes.
H -1000 and those hard to find Large Rifle Magum primers are your friend.
A good muzzle brake is extremely helpful. The PSS isn’t a heavy gun, so it might hurt🤕

My load is 208gr eldm over 75gr h1000, rem mag primer. It’s not a hot load in my gun and I have a long throat so I have plenty of room for more powder. This load shoots good so I don’t find the need to push it farther on the powder charge.

Yeah…powder is gonna hurt.

I can get close to 300 5.56 catridges from 1# of powder, nearly 200 for .308, but for .300 WM, I’ll be doing good to get 100 loads from 1#…lol

Yup, the mags eat the powder. Honestly I have no real use for mine, other than I wanted one.

Muzzle brake would be my first choice, the one I had made me flinch so bad it took me a year to get over it. But man what a caliber to shoot, awesome round!!!!

Load for the 338 Lapua, 50BMG, 458 WM, 460 Weatherby one time, or the opposite end 38 spl 2.7gr Bullseye.
Anyway dont know what type of shooting your go na be doing , Sierra/ Bergers here 190gr and up, H1000, CCI-350 primers, have to dig my loads out

Its a nice round to load for, has plenty capabilities, and the bullet weights you can use.
Basically a Berger / Sierra / Lapua person

H1000 is your friend. I shoot the 215 Berger Hybrid match plus the 190 Berger also. The 300 Win Mag is one fine caliber for shooting.

I have an original Sendero and this is my recipe except it is 77.5gr of H1000. Accurate, fast and carries downrange energy a long way.

I have always tried to have a vintage caliber Match that shoots .300 WIN Mag, 7mm-Mag.. that would be a huge difference than the cheater 6.5 cartridges...

H4831SC and Retumbo are great for 180-220 bullets. I have some good RL recipes too.

Sierra Game Kings and Nosler Accubond are favorites. Sierra 220 Round nose are incredible accuracy for shorter ranges.

77-83 grains per eats up the powder quickly tho . . .

A great classic American cartridge.
