380 for the wife ?

my wide would like one of these Maglula speed loaders in pink but then again it doesn't really matter since I am the one that is loading teh magazines :(

Wife got a 9mm Shield couple years ago for when I'm gone. Take her to a well stocked store and let her pick hers out. We can only make some good recommendations.

That's what I would recommend also. I worked a gun store and alot of ladies came in and most found 1 or 2 easier to hold and cock in there hands.

Go for it...

we'll all pretend it's your wife's. ;)

Let my daughter try out a variety of guns, she finally settled on the Glock 42. I refused to pay extra for the Tiffany blue, so she got straight black! The mag. extension are needed on any gun of that size. It is even more comfortable for her with small hands.

S&W Shield EZ .380 at my LGS today and this was suggested to another customer, internal hammer fired.

I second @Jeppo on the S&W 380 Shield. What's the Walther 380, PK380 I believe it's called.
That's what my wife shoots. Low recoil and really easy to rack the slide. Since she has some nerve damage in her hands that makes a big difference. She loves it. Personally I hate the thing. The trigger sucks, take down and cleaning is a beotch and the slide feels like it is made out of pot metal. If it was up to me I would get her a Shield, a G43 or an XDs in 9mm, but it doesn't matter what I want her to have. It matters what she wants to carry. So, to make a long story short, get Mama what Mama wants.

And won't tell her you called her "wide".

After trying every .380 we could find, my wife chose the Bersa Thunder.380 and loves to brag about how accurate she is with it and how smooth it is to shoot. She ain't just bragging... she can unbutton your shirt with it at 7 yards.

My wife first carried a Bersa. Good shooting gun. Then she decided she wanted to pocket carry, which the Bersa was not good for (the CC version is, though) so she got an LCP. Then we saw a Sig 238 at a gun show and she fell in love with it. I liked it so much, I got a 938 for myself, which is my EDC now. For a long time her favorite range gun was a full size Witness 9mm, polymer frame, but her favorite range gun now is a CZ97, 45acp. Go figure.

Whatever you do, let HER make the decision. If possible, find a gun store/range that rents guns and try before you buy. TSA has a good selection, your basically rent the caliber. In other words, you rent one gun in 380, you can keep swapping out guns as long as they are the same caliber and only pay one rental fee. They apply the rental fee towards the gun if you decide to buy.
