4 Idaho college students found dead in apparent homicide, officials say

Four University of Idaho students were found dead on Sunday, officials said.

Four University of Idaho students who were found dead off campus on Sunday were believed to be the victims of homicide, school officials said.

The students were identified by the Moscow, Idaho, police as: Ethan Chapin, 20, of Conway, Washington; Madison Mogen, 21, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Xana Kernodle, 20, of Avondale, Arizona; and Kaylee GonCalves, 21, of Rathdrum, Idaho.

Moscow police Capt. Anthony Dahlinger told the Idaho Statesman that all four students are considered victims, not suspects.

“We certainly have a crime here, so we are looking for a suspect,” he told the newspaper.

No one is in custody and the police department said it "does not believe there is an ongoing community risk."

The victims were found around noon on Sunday when officers responded to a report of an unconscious person, according to police. When officers arrived, they found the four students dead, police said.

The fatalities appear to be a "one-off type of situation," Moscow Mayor Art Bettge told ABC News on Monday.

"Something had occurred that resulted in these deaths -- there was no robbery," he said.

The mayor added, "As for further threat of incident in the community, I'd say there probably isn't."

Chapin, a freshman, was in the Sigma Chi fraternity and was majoring in recreation, sport and tourism management, university president Scott Green said.


Mogen, a senior, and Kernodle, a junior, were both marketing majors in the Pi Beta Phi sorority, Green said.

Goncalves, a senior, was majoring in general studies and was in the Alpha Phi sorority, Green said.

"Words cannot adequately describe the light these students brought to this world or ease the depth of suffering we feel at their passing under these tragic circumstances," Green said in a statement. "The university is working directly with those affected and is committed to supporting all students, families and employees as this event undeniably touches all of us."

The police department said it's "deeply saddened for the families of these individuals, fellow students and friends, and our community during this time. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to each and every person affected by this incident."

i want to ask somebody stabs 4 people to death individually, but if it was done when they were asleep, or if everybody was trying run/hide/fight individually and in that order...

It's possible there was still fentanyl in their Halloween candy prior to the stabbings I suppose.

In China, a man stabbed 23 people to death on a subway platform. (weapons are banned on the subway, though I usually had a knife and sometimes a Bear Grizzly bow. Previous had me in China a lot)
 
I came home to my appartment in college one time and my probably brilliant room mate who was also a stoner had invited in 4 scumbag drug dealers he met in a parking lot. One of thems name was Judge and another DA. I dont remember the other 2. I sized up the situation in a nano second or less and turned around and left, rapidly. I stayed over at my girl friend's place for 24 hrs till those guys were good and gone. Then Came the Last Days of May...Blue Oyster Cult.

They say it was pretty gruesome. There's a pic of blood seeping out of the siding of the house.

don't worry, soon we'll be playing by EU rules and not calling anything a muder unless somebody is convicted in court for it. it will be the only way to bring down the spike.

Their majors tell more about the departed than the police report. Either drug-related or random open-border hombres with machetes.

Well, the have to rule out mass suicide or a runaway auto-ginsu knife. I told them steel propellers on the drone was a bad idea.
