I am feeling pretty comfortable with using a 1-4 or 1-6 optic, and reflex red dot on a 45 degree. I’ve had the red dot in the rear most position, right side, and the cantilever mount for the scope immediately forward. All is great except for accessing the buttons on the red dot, and I set it up this way because of pictures I’ve seen of how others have done it.
Would there be any issue with the usefulness of the dot if I put it forward of the cantilever, out where there is no scope bell to make it crowded?
Thanks.

No issue. I would keep it on the upper receiver and not the handguard if at all possible.

Thanks!
With my eye relief requirement and cantilever size, I really need to have it up at the first slot of the hand guard. I understand why it’s not ideal.
Acquisition is working fine there, and I’m able to reach the on/off button.
