So I have 2 15rd Grendel mags, i heard you could use 556 AR mags for Grendel. I tried to put the 6.5 follower in the 556 mag and it barely fit. I tried loading Grendel ammo in the 556 mag with the 556 follower and the ammo starts to tilt forward after about 10 rounds. I know there's 25, 26, 15, and 10rd Grendel mags, but if I can convert some of my 556 mags instead...

Do you have a Grendel mag? Compare the feed lips of the two different magazines. They’re not the same.

Save the headache and buy the right mags...
i did buy a few ASC 15s and 2 C-Products 26's today, not many brands have good reviews so i'm gonna try a few out

They reason you heard you could use 6.5 Grendel or 6.8 SPC in a 5.56 magazine is yes with ONLY a few rounds. The magazine is designed for the taper and profile of the 5.56m. The Grendel uses the 7.62x39 parent case and 6.8 SPC the .30 Rem case. If you look at your specific 6.5 mags the ribs (follows case shoulder) and feed lips are in different positions allow the rounds to stack correctly. They do NOT when as you notice after loading 10 rds in your 5.56 mags. Half a dozen rounds for hunting or range testing in a 5.56 mag is fine. If high capacity is needed get a specific mag made for that cartridge.

I got a couple Elander’s from Larue for about the same price a couple months back.

Just save yourself the trouble and buy a few Elander mags. Best Grendel mags that you can use.

Elanders are the way to go. Compare them side by side with any of the other companies 6.5 mags out there, and you will see why. Superb quality.

About a year ago I modified a few of the ASC Grendel mags, and bought a newer one last spring. The new ones have the feed lips done the right way like Elanders.
The Elanders are steel and weigh about twice what the ASC aluminum ones do. And the finish is like a nitride slide black finish rather than phosphate. Probably contributes to their price and quality feel.

I'm not sure what the different is between 762x39 AR mags and Grendel mags are since I've never directly compared them but they should be similar since they're nearly the same case.
