700 yds....zero wind...

I was like “wait, that rifle is on the wrong side of the mat”

:D

Man I’d love to learn how to shoot that far.

All you gotta know is how fast your bullet is going (chronograph or factory ammo specs), the BC of the bullet (available from the mfr), a ballistics program (Hornady and Berger have on line freebies), and a scope that will dial up roughly 40 MOA above zero. A 3-9X40 aint gonna do it.

The press/media and folks making money off "teaching" people to shoot long range make a big deal out of it. It's not. It's more about equipment than anything else.

Aside from learning about reading the wind, I agree completely.

I have had more fun learning how to do it on my own. Trial and error and trigger time. Some say take a class to save time and money. I say if you want to save money why even bother to start? The fun is getting there. Loading your own ammo, reading the wind, figuring out the DOPE, and actually dinging 1 MOA steel way out there. And when the opportunity arises its great to just sit at the bench with a friend and tell lies while the barrel "cools down".

I took the long range class at Frontline Defense, all of us ringing steel at 1,000yds.
You learn each trip to the range, learn the simple math and have a blast.
