Feed the entire egg back to her. It will help this problem.

Wait. If all they eat is their own eggs, I'll never have to buy feed again.

Brilliant!
Not all the time. There are so many nutrients that are good for your birds that help with this issue.

I have it happen from time to time, even when they have free range of oyster shells.

My daughter spooked a hen off the roost several years ago and as she flew out, she laid an egg without a shell, just a clear membrane that the others gobbled up.

Never seen one come out without atleast some part of the egg. Kinda creepy

It happens. I've seen it with new layers and older birds as well. Kinda gross and when it hits the ground its a feeding frenzy.

You can also create your own with an egg and a cup of vinegar...for anybody curious that’s never seen one. We did it sometime back in school in science, and I’ve done it at home a couple times for various reasons. Looks something like this pic:

Make sure you crush the eggs up pretty fine. I crush them real fine and mix them in with their food. I keep a lot of oyster shell in their pecking around area also. I don't count on eggs at about 4 years old. they just become pets that I have to feed.

They pretty much quit during the winter, which I expected. But considering their age, I was figuring on culling them (unless I found them a retirement pasture) and starting a new batch in their coop (I have two).

When they started throwing eggs again, at a decent for me rate, I postponed that decision.

I kept oyster shell in my pen all the time, they all loved it and it kept the shells pretty solid.

We've had one egg like that since our seven started laying last october. According to my resident chicken expert (daughter), stressed chickens can be the cause.

I would try shaming the offending avian. If that fails, sit down and eat a bucket of KFC in front of the bird.

Apparently the chickens are stressed out over biden acting as potus!

Had 2 layer houses for 20+ years. Seen alot of egg related stuffs!!
