Sgt.Dillon C. Baldridge is being laid to rest on Friday June 23, just up the road from me. The 22-year-old Baldridge was one of three soldiers who died of gunshot wounds on June 10 in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. They were part of the 101st Airborne Division based at Fort Campbell, located on the Kentucky-Tennessee line. Funeral services will be held for the soldier on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Ashe County High School auditorium, according to an obituary for Baldridge. A burial with military honors will follow at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

I am asking that we all take a minute to remember this young man and the others that gave their lives. Thanks

His mother works ,with a member(and friend) on the forum ,at the Toyota dealership in Boone. Keep her and the rest of his family in your thoughts if you would.

It truly saddens me that these young men lost their lives so young because an Afghan soldier turned his guns on Americans after fighting alongside them.

Yeah, Green on Blue REALLY bothers me. Getting stabbed in the back.

I take a minute everyday for them fallen or not, and ALWAYS pray for their safety and comfort for the families of the fallen.

I NEVER trusted a one of them! I turned down a job as a contractor for BIG $$$$$, teaching the Afgans to do Route Clearing opns. The killer was that I lived on an Afghan FOB, by myself, unarmed. Bull shit!!!!!!! Keep the money! I will say a prayer for these young Warriors! Until Valhalla!

Prayers for the family - may he rest in peace.

Yeah, I just read that. I wish I could! Ashe county is not that far but I've got a little boy that needs to see me tomorrow. He's in the hospital with Lymes and meningitis and is pissed he's missing his weekend with me!

You take care of that little boy, we got this.

Hell is too good for them.

Oh make no mistake there is indeed a special place in hell for these people. But if they do show up which I doubt(they are all bark and no bite most of the time) the patriot guard won't let them anywhere the church.

There is a really good turn out to pay respects. A lot of folks are lining the road on the path to the graveyard holding flags.

Glad to report there was no trouble. The protesters decided not to show up. It was a very sad day for our community but I was extremely proud of the support that everyone showed. A special thank you to William "Bear" MacDonald and the Patriot Guard Riders for showing up in full force.
