Acoustic version that are better.

I always remember the Kearsarge relating to rescuing Scott O'Grady.
That was our MEU. I was supposed to be on the mission but got bumped at literally the last second by an actual Croatian linguist. I was a Russian linguist and better than nothing since the languages are close.

I'm sure I'll never find a link, because I think I heard it on John Boy and Billy a couple decades ago, but I caught a snippet of Jackyl's "Lumberjack," unplugged.

Instead of using a chainsaw in the song, you could hear the sounds of a handsaw cutting wood.

Not sure this one is “better”, but it definitely hits different. The original:

I have an entire bootleg CD of them that’s acoustic. It’s fantastic. Here’s the above song done acoustic:

Another one that’s just very different without that lead electric lick…

And now for something completely different:

Studio version is mostly accustic but not entirely. Refrain is "help to make the knot unwind", I always thought it was "night unwind".

Also (judge me if you wish) but Puddles Pity Party dominates in the business of killer acoustic versions of popular songs. He has no bad covers.

They may not all be “better than the original” but they’re all pretty great.

Really creative arrangements.

Huge puddles fan

well, by the Original Artist who made it famous, this one is my favorite:

This ties two threads together, the kids science TV show. I used to watch a B&W science show after school on the 70’s. It opened with this song. I’ve always really liked this tune.

I don't know if she ever recorded a studio version of this, but her acoustic version is amazing.

Not sure it qualifies because the original was acoustic as well, but perhaps the best cover ever...

Shinedown "Simple Man" is pretty awesome too.

Probably the best remake of all time.

When Chad posted that last year I think I mentioned that we sang that with fifty kids in 8th grade in chorus class.

In a mobile unit.

What a great song it was then, and now.
