My pic taking ability is crap. The only hair on his tail is the tuft of white on the tip. There were 3 healthy young kits in early March & this is the only one left.Mange and possible rabbies. Pop his butt (azz) and bury him so other animals don't dig him up.
He probably has both.I'd leave him alone. No links between mange and rabies that I know of, and even if he's on his way out he might eat a few moles/voles before he goes.
True but can't shoot him here. I'm annexed to one of NC's paper towns. He probably has both.
Kill him and protect the uninfected animals that are in the surrounding area.
Just as easy to pull the trigger as it is to take a picture.

@Tailhunter that is my diagnosis also. He's covered with mange.
I've walked to 10-15 feet from him & he just walks off about a little ways & lays down.

Can you keep a fox as a pet? Sounds stupid but I've heard worse.

I used to date a girl whose sister had a pet coon! Meanest damn thing I've ever saw. It would growl at you and show his considerable teeth! He got out once and they found it in a neighbors kitchen eating a watermelon! It had to go. I don't know where but it left! Damned thing always scared me!I had a friend in high school that had a pet raccoon.
