Not asking for thoughts on any other platform, as we have lots of those discussions including the recent “favorite PCC” thread.

For anybody that owns either, what are your thoughts on it? Would you buy it again? One of your go-to firearms when loading up for the range?

If you own both, which one do you prefer? And why?

I think the PSA mags have a solid rep. I assume the CZ ones do as well. What about the Magpul? ETS?

No experience with the AR-V but I've owned 2 of the AK-V. I liked really liked it but prior to the brace fiasco I settled on one large frame pistol and moved the others. Never had an issue with either. The only con was the weight. They are really heavy when compared to other guns of the same size. Also, they were a lot louder than the Scorpion and Stribog I had to compare them to at the time but I'm sure that won't be a problem for you. ;)

I Have the ARV with iron sights but usually have a little red dot on top. I Have run several thousand rounds through it with zero issues or failures. One of my favorite guns and I have several PCC’s . It is as fun to shoot as my Kriss Vector. I’ve had it braced and with just the buffer tube and both image.jpgways shoulder good. I wish it took Glock mags instead of Scorpion mags but that’s just a personal preference as I have several Glock mags. To be honest the Scorpion mags look better than the Glock mags in a PCC and like I said zero failures on the 4 mags I have for it.

Definitely like the look of the mags better. Good price on all the variants I’ve seen as well.

Being louder is probably from the muzzle brake it comes with.

I don’t have an AR-V but my AK-V is one of my favorite guns I own to shoot. I can shoot it a lot faster and more accurately than my AR9, I think the weight of it and lack of the heavy buffer cycling is the reason.

Mine suppresses very well with my Obsidian 9 and I also have the ALG trigger in it which makes bump firing it almost effortless. Only issues I have out of it are ammo related, won’t cycle flat nose bullets very reliably.

My AR-V is the least reliable firearm I own. It was unusable before PSA replaced the BCG, and I still get intermittent double feeds/FTE's and smashed brass.

The mags are good though, and function flawlessly in my Scorpion.

Was it an early production model? I assume they’re still on “Gen 1”?

Had both.

AK-V is softer shooting (not that the AR-V is hard hitting) as mentioned above, likely due to the weight difference. That near lack of recoil makes it one the funnest to shoot.

It’s my bedside HD w a red dot

I love my AR-V but it took some money to get it to that point. Larue trigger first. I swapped out the buffer with a 10 oz dead blow buffer. That softened the recoil. Replaced the barrel with a Macon armory barrel with better feed cone and now it feeds flat nose an hollow points. MI handguard my suppressor fits under and now it is one sweet shooter.

So I guess what I'm saying is the AR-V is gonna cost alot more in the long run. @Blowback9 has a great website though if you want an ar-v that really performs.

The AR V and AR 9 are nearly identical except the magazine. One takes CZ pattern mags and the other Glock pistol mags. I currently have an AR9 and I am looking at building an AR V.

Recoil is going to be a little snappier compared to the AKV simply due to the weight difference. The AKV is a chunky thick gun compared to everything else in that class. Not saying it’s a bad thing just pointing out what I’ve noticed. The only other comment is once you put a lighter trigger like an ALG - these are very prone to “bump” fire or squirt multiple rounds on a single trigger press. Working matches as a RSO I have lost count how many times this has happened

Both are great PCCs

Technically it’s not a “single trigger press”..

Yeah you are correct. Some people think it’s cool, but I don’t care for the unpredictable nature. I wish I had a dollar for every shooter that said “yeah it does that but I can control it ….then squirts rounds all over a stage “

I have one of each, love them both. The PSA mags work great, I got several back when they went on sale for $9-10 but even now they are at a relative steal for $14 for 30 round mags. Of the 2 platforms my preference is the AR-V for no particular reason, I just like shooting it a little more.

I hear you, and you’re correct for that type of setting, but when my backdrop is just a mountain with nothing possible in the way, its certainly fun to bump fire or occasionally.

I got the ar-v I love it. I’ve always wanted an mp5 but couldn’t afford it so I got the ar-v and I don’t regret it.

Oh don’t get me wrong very cool and fun in the right place. As an RSO it’s a bit nerve racking

I have both and the AK-V is hands down better…this coming from an AR > AK guy. Don’t get me wrong, I like them both, but if I had the AK-V and AR-V in front of me and could only take one, I wouldn’t think twice about walking away with the AK-V.

Quick question for whichever one of you, or another AR-V owner, gets to it first.

What kind of buffer does the AR-V use?

Trying to help somebody troubleshoot one. His buffer is heavier than the one in his regular AR, but the same length. My two AR-9s have buffers that are heavier and longer than my 5.56 guns.

This is what is in mine an Ive never had issues with it. Granted I got it used so I don't know what ammount of effort went into tuning it but all I know is that it runs reliably with a junk box of mixed steel/brass 9mm.

Thanks. This could be the issue. This is his AR-V vs his M&P 15:

My two AR9 buffers look more like yours.
I got mine second hand from a fellow CFFer so not sure if anything was upgraded or if it’s all standard.

I've got the 10 oz extended ar stoner buffer. Mine lives with a suppressor attached and I haven't had any issues since I switched to that buffer.

Thanks.

He did say the AR-V buffer was heavier, but hadn’t weighed it yet. Probably could stick some quarters in the buffer tube and see if that helps.
