ALERT: YETI Drops NRA Foundation

DATE: April 20, 2018
TO: USF & NRA Member and Friends
FROM: Marion P. Hammer
USF Executive Director
NRA Past President

For years YETI Coolers have been a hot item for sportsmen at the Friends of NRA Foundation Banquet and Auction events around the country.

These Foundation events raise money to support youth programs and educational programs nationwide. The youth of America who benefit from these programs are the future hunters, hikers, fishermen/women, bikers, campers, wildlife photographers, mountain climbers, sportsmen/women and conservationists who will protect our natural resources and recreational lands.

Suddenly, without prior notice, YETI has declined to do business with The NRA Foundation saying they no longer wish to be an NRA vendor, and refused to say why. They will only say they will no longer sell products to The NRA Foundation. That certainly isn't sportsmanlike. In fact, YETI should be ashamed. They have declined to continue helping America's young people enjoy outdoor recreational activities. These activities enable them to appreciate America and enjoy our natural resources with wholesome and healthy
outdoor recreational and educational programs.

The NRA Foundation is 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization.

In this day and age, information is power. We thought you needed this information.

Meh, Yeti is over priced. People are still gonna buy their product, but sales might decline.

While I am not a supporter of the NRA, I figure this is gonna be a bad move on their (YETI's) part...... Never was fond for paying for an overpriced product like theirs, when Ozark Trail mugs are cheaper and just as good.

Coolers, well never really used one lol

Thanks Uncle Ted! Keep yer yap shut whydoncha.

SO did Yeti hire some ex-Dicks Sporting Goods advisory board execs ???
NO matter since I never did see the appeal of these overpriced toys to begin with. I mean just how "cold" ( and for how many days ) does an adult beverage need to be??
And correct me if I'm off base here BUT I see little difference d between leaving a shotgun unattended (in full view in the bed of my truck ) vs. a $350.00 cooler while I'm half mile away in my deer stand. I'm just too old ( and set to n my redneck ways). Besides, at my age cammies seldom match either and I figure 35o bucks will buy a LOT of 7-Eleven styrofoam coolers...

While I am not a supporter of the NRA...

To each his or her own. I'm not sure why anyone would announce this on this kind of forum. If it were up to me, and it is not, no one would be allowed to post on this forum who was not a member of the NRA. YMMV.

I just prechill my good old USA made Rubbermaid cooler the night before with ice.

I'm not going to miss the one gal trying to sell tickets to a huge Yeti bucket at the Friends Dinner in Raleigh two years ago, her voice was nasty. "HOW ABOUT THAT YETI" over and over and over.

This decision totally escapes me. WHO thought this was a good idea? Just which demographic group does Yeti intend to target after throwing all pro- 2A proponents under the bus? Perhaps I'm all wet but what company "genius" convinced Yeti shareholders that they did't need the loyalty of hunters and fishermen ...
(oops, ....fisherpersons! ).....my bad!
Can't recall seeing a raft of Yeti coolers at the Occupy Wall Street , BLM, or recent school walk-out rallies? I hope Phil Robertson tells them to pi$$ up a rope....

Thankfully its not up to you.

One shouldnt have to be a member of a certain organization to post here.
And he's not alone in not being a NRA member.

Good thing it’s not up to you then. Sounds kinda like antifa, in the fact if it doesn’t fit our way of thinking then your wrong. So I guess I am wrong then.

Someone has a problem with me not supporting the NRA, oh well NMFP, and life goes on

nevermind.

I found a 20oz Yeti cup at my old job and nobody claimed it. I kept it. That's the extent of my Yeti "purchases" in the last three years.

It's all overpriced crap Made in China anyways.

Don't care about this at all.

Do they give you a nice black armband?

I never will understand why a corporate company would think supporting a political group was a good idea in the first place.

Because when you’re starting out you’re looking to build momentum, and the NRA and it’s members were good for momentum.

I bought a 55 gallon Pelican instead of a Yeti, anyways. It is made in the USA, and it has a longer warranty.

That is unfortunately action that will not lead to anything meaningful anyways.

So do some of yall only support brands who are NRA sponsors?
Those who are dropping YETI for ceasing their partnership, are you going to switch to a company that does support them, or another non-supporting company?

I mean, does WalMart/Ozark Trail support NRA?
Pelican?
etc?

Personally, I dont care if one supports the NRA or not. Just because they arent a partner anymore doesnt mean anything to me.

Also, at a Friends of NRA banquet recently and dont think I saw a single Yeti item offered. They used to do a cup with tickets in them for $XX dollars. None of that.
They did coolers etc.
This time they had some other brand's coolers up for grabs.
What if they stopped their NRA support because NRA wasnt buying from them anymore, would that change your mind?

I'm sure all who publically state they don't support the NRA, on a firearms forum, have their good reasons. Just be happy I'm not in charge, which I stated I am not.

"We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately." -- Benjamin Franklin

This is good news for either pelican or orca.
I've already quit using Yeti. I've bought Pelican and Orca. I love the Orca coolers as I put ice in it last Saturday and today it still had ice in it! And its made in the USA! Yetis are made in China.

Yeti is ridiculously expensive for what it is and couldn't care less what they do.

I wholeheartedly support the NRA Foundation. The monies go to training and youth organizations. These are separate (or are purported to be) from the ITIL (lobbying arm). That said, the changes made recently to training have left me scratching my head. I can't wait to hear what comes from the annual meeting this year.

Welll I'm your huckleberry....
First off let me say that IMO products and politics have no business in the same court. Any right-minded CEO should know that from the git-go. I don't play politics when it comes to my $$$. If I desire political commentary I'll form my OWN opinion on "my own dime and my own time". At my age (72) I have neither the time or inclination to suffer the political grandstanding of CEOs or actors or sports figures ....and the like! IF however these folks insist on making their opinions a matter of public record then I feel duty bound to salute them ....one finger at a time!

There's a whole lot of people crapping on a company about which they claim not to care at all, makes a crappy product, etc.

Businesses have to make decisions regarding charitable contributions, sponsorships, etc. Maybe YETI was not seeing any return or benefit from the relationship. Maybe it's political. Either way, I am put off by the tactic of keeping or punishing former sponsors by economic force, intimidation, etc.

But is it a political statement to sever ties with the NRA?

And we dont know why, either. Does the why matter to you? (or anyone, really)

There are multiple people in this thread, myself included, who arent NRA members, and it has nothing to do with politics, at least not for me.
