@Jayne recently got a new SUB 2K and so did I. I've had the Gen 1 before and had been wanting to try the Gen 2 but hadn't been able to find one. I found this one at a very good deal and I snapped it up. 9mm that takes Glock 17 magazines. I have plenty of magazines for it along with several of the 33 rounders. I plan to knock the new off of it tomorrow.

Perfect candidate for a primary arms micro red dot. I'm going to go check this place out next week. Did he have more than that one?

Not sure. It won't fold up with a red dot unless it's mounted at a 45 degree angle.

After a month,, start a thread with your opinion with this vs the 995. IMO they both have their advantages but I have a favorite.

What's the upside to the 995? Better optics mounting options and last round hold open?

The downside are those lame mags. We don't live in CA, give me a double stack!

I haven't looked at them too close...but am I seeing a thread protector on the end? Are all the Gen 2 threaded barrels? Hmmm...

It doesn't feel cheap. Not scared to drop it on concrete and worry about it breaking.
Lower cap mags won't let you waste ammo.
If you can't stop what your shooting in 10 rds,, 17 ain't gonna do it either.

The S2k is more compact buts that's about it.

Yep, 1/2x28 too ... so it not only takes the same Glock mags my G17/G19 does it also takes the same can ... less the piston.

And quick search shows the .40 has standard 9/16-24. Hmmm...again.

QD mount. Of course for plinking or just leave it unfolded for HD.

Wouldn't be practical as a truck gun to take time to attach. Seems like they would have designed a gen 2 as a side fold, otherwise what's the point in adding a top rail?

Took it out this afternoon and it ran like a champ. I tried the Magpul magazine that came with it, a Glock 17 magazine, a Glock 33 round G18 magazine, and one of the clear ETS 31 round magazines. They all worked perfectly. I was hoping the ETS magazine would work because Midway has them on clearance for $13.81 each.

Even with my old eyes and the open sights I could hit the 100 yard steel every time. The trigger had a spongy but hard pull to it but if you just pulled through it, it was very manageable. I guess, my DA revolver shooting was paying off.

It will make a good truck gun or a gun to carry discreetly in a bag or briefcase. If you have a G17/19/26 it would be an awesome companion because you can use the same magazines in both guns.

Got to shoot ^that one^ this morning. Functioned flawlessly with 115gr & 147gr. Both with and without suppressor.

Other than any rounds fired at the factory, it was the first shots through that Sub2K as far as I know. The owner that loaned it to me had yet to fire it.

I put a cheap magazine holder on mine. The nylon mag carrier had belt loops with snaps. Luckily, the loops just fit around he hand guard and snapped on the opposite side. With the Glock stick and the mag on the hand guard, I have 50 rounds at my finger tips.

Two of these also have 50 rounds. :D

(And the ammo qualifies as pistol as well)

I own both (Gen 1's) so I can comment from a knowledgeable first hand prospective about these carbines in general......The HP 995 is about half the price and in my experience its a bit more accurate. I also have never been a fan of handguard mounted optics since they all generally move at some point so the HP995 optic mount is more solid IMO. I have several of the Red Ball 20 round mags that work 100% reliably so that helps some with the capacity issue. Both are fun toys and have their pluses and minuses. But for those would use Glock pistols and want a folding carbine its a no brainer.

after my testing I'm 100% in agreement with that. the handguard mounted optics on my gen 2 were not repeatable.

My buddy bought 3 of the Red Ball 20 round magazines. None of them would run in his 995 nor in mine. Both of ours are Gen 1's, if it makes a difference. Both of ours will run the 10 round magazines like poop through a goose.

I prefer my Su-16c Shoots folded and holds 30 rds of .223

Just have the red dot on a QD mount and put it on the bottom rail when folded, that's what I did with mine and it held zero well enough.
