I'm slowly acquiring optics for my small selection of firearms. For my 10/22 I was wanting something like the RMR but without the RMR price tag because it's just a plinker.

Anyone found a halfway decent clone that won't break the bank? There's a bunch out there but quality is suspect so I'm hoping for actual users to pipe up.

EDIT: ended up getting a Romeo 5

Not an RMR type, but I highly recommend the SIG Romeo 5. I use them on PCCs with great success.

I suspect most of them will live ok on a 10/22.

The Vortex line is affordable and has as solid a warranty as anything in the business. I've had two Vipers, lense shifted on the first one after 3000+ rounds riding a slide, second one is still holding up closing in on that number again. Second one does have some issues with glare when the sun is low.

The Holosun 507c has my interest, reviews have been good, seems reasonable when it's on sale.

The DPP and one of the Sigs are generally regarded as the most durable after the Trij.

Yeah but the DPP and the Sigs aren't really budget. If I was going to spend 500+ I may as well find a deal on an RMR

But you are right, the Chinesium ones are pretty solid these days typically.

I too would like to throw one of these on a 10/22 but there don’t seem to be any good ones in the $100-200 range. I can’t see putting a $300 vortex on a 10/22 that won’t get shot all that much.

Seems like all of these reflex RDS are $300-700. A little rich for me.

The SIG Romeo 5 is consistently on sale at Palmetto State Armory for 119 bucks... And free shipping at times.

I'll see if they have the low mount version, I don't have any AR height firearms.

It comes with a low mount, which gave me perfect Co witness on my CX4. The high mount is on it in the box. Simply take it off, and swap in the low mount. If you are ever around Burke, Catawba, Caldwell, etc. I would be happy to let you check it out.

Well guess I'm done looking. They had them at $120 until tomorrow so I went ahead and grabbed one with the free shipping.

Between the good reviews, the recommendations and the deal it seemed a good way to go.

Good choice. Thankfully our budget micro dot options are plenty: Romeo5, PA, Holosun, Vortex Sparc & crossfire. I have all but the crossfire and Romeo5, a friend has the Romeo5. All solid.
If price is close, I’ll spend the extra $10-20 to go Vortex just because of their no BS warranty and I like the company.

Following this thread to see more people's opinions etc
I'd thought about something like the RMR for the SP5k

I'm looking at a RDS for the 300SBR and contemplating a G21/20 for outdoor activities

So after mounting the Romeo 5 I noticed the riser is a hollow type

Turns out on an SU16C it's not too uncomfortable to use the high riser and you can see your iron sights clearly through the riser. Guess I can have a red dot and the Tech Sight upgraded rear sight together!

I managed to snap a pic. You can just see the front sight post in the rear ring, although it's tilted because the dog was interfering. As you can see, lots of clearance for a good sight picture.

I really need to ditch the junky rear sight Kel Tec provides and get the Tech Sights with all the adjustments on the rear unit.

Considering an MRO can be had for under $300, and then add a mount and you're under $350, hard to justify anything else in my opinion if you need more than something like the Romeo 5 or Holosun. I'll likely be getting the Romeo for my 10/22.

Posted the deal in the Hot Deals section last time. It was the 15% eBay coupon. Got it for like $285 shipped.

Edit, just looked. It was like $283.xx

That's a bloody good deal. Funny thing is, the PA I have that is very similar to the Romeo 5 (seems to have an indentical base) are more than adequate for my current needs, but an MRO would be nice.
