developing a weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly on-air gathering (typical SSB ragchew) on 60, 75, or 160 meters of folks that participate in this forum? Nothing formal, not a directed net, or the likes.

2 restrictions (honor system)
#1. Radio can be powered by any means, EXCEPT COMMERCIAL MAINS.
#2. 50 Watts max output power (as set by the transceiver, or indicated on power monitor)

No restriction on antenna.

Would be a good test, and practice to see just how 'prepared' your station actually is..

Someday, I genuinely hope to be able to get in on something like this.

What about 40 and 80? I know 40 isn't always doable, but 80 is usually pretty solid.

Oh, you did say 75. Somehow I missed that. I only saw 60 and 160. Well, I am in my phone. Yeah, I'll use that. I'm in my phone and missed it.

Whenever I get on HF I would be interested.

40 would be possible during sunlight. However band propagation and foreign broadcast in the evenings would make it extremely difficult.
I've had good luck with 40, even in the evenings. It's my favorite band. The reason I bring it up is that I've been playing with a feather weight QRP/NVIS rig, basically a QRP mono-band transceiver with an end-fed mono-band antenna, feed line and a battery. That's it. I designed it to be the lightest, easiest and cheapest setup to get on the air, albeit with certain limitations. Analog tuning, no nice digital readout, 10 watts and a single band. It's worked well so far, getting me into middle TN with reports of s7. I haven't had time to ring it out more. I'll be setting it back up in the next week or so. It's fun to operate. Feels like real radio. ;)
I may do a 75m rig as well as time and money permits.
