Any Lawn Care Nuts Out There? Let’s See Those Yard Pics….

I don’t spend as much time on my lawn since kids but I do try to keep it as one of the nicest in the neighborhood. I also have a great helper!

Edit:
For comparison, this is how my lawn started in 2017 when I began my lawn care journey.

Had to dig up and remove river rocks before seeding new fescue.

Have to ask, what kind of kids blower is that? My 4 year old would go crazy for one of those!

It’s this one…

A friend has the Dewalt version which I think is a slightly lighter. My 3.5yo complained about the weight with a 2ah battery the first couple times but he quickly got used to it and it doesn’t seem to bother him any more. He grabs that thing every chance he gets! I bought mine as a refurb from direct tools for like $40 tool-only. I can’t find refurbs anywhere right now.

Pictures from this past weekend.

@Pop N Shots , and anyone else in the Wake Forest area.
1)- Is there a farm supply business in the area? I've been going to Adams, now Watkins in Angier for chemicals and fertilizer for over rten years. Most of their prices, and quality are much better than on line, Low's or Home Creepo.
2)- Do you know anyone that does springing? I'm going with Zeon zoysia again, but I don't want to have to pay for that much sod.

I couldn't find a good thread for this, so I will try here.

What the heck IS this?!

It is solid, breaks apart in chunks. It takes clumps of dirt with it when it breaks.

Once pulled up it must weigh seven pounds (including the dirt it too with it).

It seems to have been attached to a ground-up stump of a tree removed 5 years ago.

It has the consistency of maybe drywall mud mixed with Portland cement.
Slime mold

I got a late start this year, plugged and overseed tall fescue the first week of October. It has only rained twice here in the past 6 weeks or so, some of the plugs still haven't dissolved back into the ground. I have some spots to fix and another fertilizer application this month should help.
First cut today.

Second year since the birch tree removed on the front lawn, I'm good at growing grass, thatched all the dead stuff from the guy who reseeded with crap seed after tree removal.
When you buy seed remember to read the content label, most have 20%-30% "other".
One brand had 20% clay!
I use a mulching mower, keep it tall to prevent weed seeds from growing. Neighbors on both sides don't do anything but scalp the grass or what is left if it.
