American Rifleman (NRA still sends it, IDK why) has a photo on the cover of some nice looking revolvers. Are these any good?

Upon further research they appear to be relabeled Taurus guns.

Personally I’d stay far away from anything Taurus. I’ve owned a 605 that was of middling to poor build quality and a 942 that wouldn’t shoot a full cylinder of anything brand new from the factory. The length of time that it took for them to get a replacement in from Brazil and the run around they gave me during the process was incredibly frustrating and not befitting a company that wants to portray themselves as a professional outfit.
Other folks have had better luck but I have pretty much always heard you get a good one or you don’t, and even the good isn’t as “good” as other brands.
IMO find a used S&W or Ruger in whatever frame size you’re looking for and any money you spend above and beyond what a Rossi/Taurus costs is well spent.

Yeah, I was done when I saw they're Taurus built. I just saw something shiny and thought I'd ask.

I have several older Interarms imported steel frame rossi that are on par with nicer revolvers. They take tuned springs very well. I even have a few of those 44 special 720s around. Neat guns. 44 special 5 shot with 3 inch barrel on a small frame.

Newer rossi probably never will.

Essentially both are modified from regular taurus models with hammer mounted firing pins, the rp63 is an odd one. Small frame (comparable to j frame Smith) but 6 round 357. From the little I've read they are finished a little nicer than their Taurus counterparts.

I’ve got Rossi and Taurus wheelguns around here, and I’ve never had the first lick of trouble out of any of them. 22LR, WMR, 38/357…..
Not a problem one…..

Maybe I’m just lucky.
I've had no problems from the two I just recently bought. Put Galloway spring kits in them and polished the internals but that's not necessary for function. There's no internal lock like on smiths. And the hammer screw lock is also gone now too.

The RP63, et al are larger than a j frame, smaller than k. Internals of the Rossi are similar the older smiths but different from current Taurus . Made by Rossi, owned by Taurus.

Older Interarms imported Rossi revolvers are solid - this is before Taurus took over

I have heard grear things about some Taurus products like the TX 22. Others, were either meh of not as good.

I know RIA makes a revolver that is cheap and crude. Havent fired/handled it.

I dont know if cimmaron/pietta makes anything modern but I have always liked their stuff, especially if it isnt a heavy use gun

Taurus does better with revolvers... stay away from their semi-autos.
The PT-92 has always seemed to be one of the better things they have made, Ive never had an issue with the ones Ive handled or owned.

That said, the only other semi autos they have sold lately that seem ok are the G2/G3 series...
