Anyone buy/collect Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars?

Years ago I was out of town on a job and stopped by an antique store to walk around.
They had what must have been 100 cars.
I asked the lady how much they were she gave me a price for 5 or 10 maybe $2 or 3.
I said No for all of them.
She gave me a good price and out the door I went.
G-son was 3 at that time and I would give him 5 or 10 at a time.
Daughter finally asked me Just how many do you have?
I just smiled.
All 4 G-kids have enjoyed them.

Those of you that collect, do you have anything in your collection from a hotwheels line called Wayne's garage? Wayne was a buddy of mine that I grew up with. Friends for 40 years. He designed for them for quite a few years.

Walmart had a bunch of P car stuff on the rack today. I managed to get a couple of Caymans too!

I bought a bunch of Pcar stuff from a guy online, I'll let you know if I have any cayman in the mix. I bought like 20 cars from him, mostly 911s, but I'll dig through later for you

My kids can be so amazing.

I had a kid that I coached in soccer for three years (and taught one or two times in class, including now) ask me "what's your dream car?"

Yesterday he presented me these

You should told him you really like guns more than cars. He might have brought you something really special. 😆

I too collect 1:64th diecast cars from HW, MB, Auto World, M2, Johnny Lighting, and a couple other brands I cannot think of. I'm specific in what I collect - actual production vehicles and production race cars (nothing Nascar related). I do buy on occasion models that I think are cool. I have no idea how many that I have (400-600) and I really should developed a list of all that I have.

I have a big storage bin in my attic that has cars my sons (now in their 40s) collected in the 1990s.

More recently, my wife's nephew contributed a memento of the department from which he retired.

Yesterday we had a multi-family yard sale. One of our older neighbors has "about 8,000" Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars, going back to when they first came out. I asked him if he was going to put any out at the sale, he said no, he wanted to sell them to a collector.

Anyone remember the “High Raker” hot wheels? I had hundreds of hot wheels & matchbox cars but haven’t looked for mine in 25-30 years, my wife may have tossed them by now though.

Some of these you will have seen before. Yesterday my wife insisted I get all of these into one, central location...they were scattered around quite a bit
So I decided to go through all I could find in a short timeand 'log' what I had so I could
A) put them in one location
B) figure out what Im going to sell off

What she DOESNT know is that I bought 11 on Wednesday. And three more were delivered yesterday.
Or the box that I posted earlier with a bunch of P-cars in it

I KNOW I have more around. Like, I know I have the full 5 car set of the Days of Thunder cars somewhere boxed up. Im needing to go through things and really sort through and organize and downsize my possessions.
Some posted above will be going up for sale. Just dont have the desire to own them really, would rather get a buck than keep them in my collection

If you're wanting to buy I got tons all still in package never opened. Lol in fact most still in cases only opened to see which special car was in them

My uncle passed away recently and he had probably 100 or so of the hot rods in the packaging plus several of the old model cars that you build that are in the boxes. If anyone is interested in seeing some pics let me know by PM. Has anyone tried to go to a collectible store and had any success in getting anything for them?

I haven't actively collected in years. I have piles of Johnny Lightning Mopars in the package and more out of that I used to display on shelving from an old video store. When the kids came along I moved them to higher up shelves so they couldn't reach them. Then I took them down and stored them in shoe boxes .
Now the shelves serve as ammo storage lol.
Had a customer give me a 70 Plymouth Superbird for Xmas today. Sitting on my desk at work.
Maybe I will get some pics this weekend.

If I post a repeat, I apologize. Im putting them all in one central spot/tote, and so you get what I get when I 'find' them

Recently I spent a little extra on some nicer pieces, the two porsches are still 1/64 (or just slightly larger) scale, the covette is about an inch longer than a hot wheels

Love the details. Love the cars!
These werent too bad on price, about 24 bucks for all three (over multiple purchases)

I mainly collect old muscle cars, trucks and tv/movie vehicles. I do have a few import and tuner style vehicles. I'll have look through all my boxes and such. Might be interested in trading the import and tuner stuff for more muscle cars.

So Ive been buying recently...a lot.
Like... ... ... maybe 150 cars in the past two weeks?
Ive been buying from an auction site (not ebay) and getting some solid deals, and Im buying MOSTLY to flip.
Im getting stuff for 30c a car and selling for 75c a car. Not a lot of money, but it's enough to where Im making profit even after keeping a handful (out of 150 Ive kept about 12 or so). It's just feeding my vice.

That said, today I went to World of Cars in Lexington (I think that's the name of it) and bought two items, one was a mainline HW, a ducati, that was about a quarter more than WM sells for without the hunting/searching.
The other thing was a more expensive, but only five bucks, porsche pig livery car, and I cant recall the name of the brand right now, not HW or MB, has rubber wheels opening doors etc. Just a little 'nicer' than the standard 1/64 cars.

But, yeah. Ive bought and sold a LOT of cars in the last couple of weeks
Started keeping a GoogleSheets file open to log my buying and selling and coming out pretty well on stuff - right now Im at a 76% profit margin on my goodwill and estate sales etc

And because threads are better with pics, here you go from a recent trip to DRS.
